Apathetic response mate...about time we stuck up them. Love my HD hate the bike shop pricks that prey on us. Went to the M&W 'Open Day" yeaterday...what a fucking joke. Time we took itr to them. Any one i  for a 'Say no to dealers' ride?

A few hundred HD's out the front of M&W witha bit of attitude mightr turn the tide.

Hey Roddo, I'm not sure your anger is appropriately directed. I could be wrong but I have been advised that the dealers are not the problem. My dealer in Sydney provides good service and friendly support, and a free cuppa while I wait.

Harley Australia, the subsidiary of Harley Davidson U.S.A. seem to be the true bastards. They set prices and I suspect if you want to be a dealer you stay in line, discount and you're out. I could be wrong and while I have tried a few times I cannot find anyone who will give me the dealer buy prices. ANYONE HEAR ME? Again, I suspect if a dealer did this Harley would have their guts for garters. BUT I WONT DOB YOU IN, JUST DM ME!

In summary, HD Australia appear to be the culprits. BUT, even they are only taking advantage of Government legislation, so in reality, it is our Government who is screwing us.

And on that note, one has to wonder what the Government is lining us up for with the new Trans-Pacific Partnership they are pursuing, mostly in secret. I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows what this agreement will mean. And if we don't know one has to wonder what kind of a democracy we live in.

I don't know. it's all secret. I likely will only find out when my Government presents me with the bill!

Harley Davidson (and others) take excessive profits out of Australia, they bleed us and ship the money back to the U.S. and other foreign countries where they have a thriving motorcycle manufacturing industries.  It does nothing for the a non-existent Australian motorcycle industry. It buys HD execs, and execs in other motorcycle manufacturing countries, big yachts.

YES $250 million!! is being taken out of Australia in excess profits by U.S, Japanese, German, U.K., Italian and other overseas motorcycle manufactures EVERY YEAR. And it does nothing for Australian industry or Australians!!

If you could buy somewhere else or from someone else and you choose to be screwed that is another situation, but show me how you can buy a new motorbike in Australia and force competition, without first owning it overseas for 12 months and I will be the first to do so! Well Greygo you might just get your wish. Just had a conversation with a bloke who has bought a brand spanking new Trike from USA. Off the showroom floor and imported into Aus thanks t what he calls 1 of only 3 agents allowed to import complianced bikes.

Now at this stage I don't have all the detail, but he also stated that you could bring in a fatboy if you wanted to.

According to him there is a list of bikes that are n the list, and if you go through one of these agents you can get one too.

If I am in a good mood I will pass on his info for you if and when I get it.

 

EDIT:  I should mention that all of the bikes mentioned above are Harley's.

Well I think it is well time we got a better deal. Should HD be a luxury item? I personally don't think so.
I am a daily rider (only family vehicle) and would like to think anyone could choose to ride the bike that suits them and not be limited by what they can afford. I know a bit of a dream, everyone would have a Ferrari type scenario.
But it doesn't help to have price gouging thrown in. Why shouldn't lower income demographics deserve a HD and not be left to the sole upperclass Dr & Lawyer types who only ride a few times of year when the weather is just so.

You should be passionate about your ride, and yes I have grease under my nails from mine, not use it as a status symbol!

Now me personaly well i bought my house before it costs big money , so i have a dispospal income and can afford the new Harley . The gouging and shitting on there cutomer base is whats turning me off Harley dealers in a big way .

Will i buy another Harley Course i will , but it will be a import , i'll probably go to the states have a holiday , buy a bike and get choppaweeza to import it for me and all for the same price has buying a secondhand grey import from Peter Stevens .

Harley have been marketed better than any other bike in the world but success breeds arrogance and for me they are showing there arrogance , but personaly i think the customers base they spent millions and millions building up , are getting older and smarter , . When i was a kid it was all yamaha 350 rd's ,,, honda 4's , kwaka 900's . Bonnevilles ,, then came Bronson ( thats for those who remember it,, ha ha ).

But then came Harleys , great bike , way off life , a culture , and a good investment , not so anymore , its big buisness , shit on your customers , and DEMAND loyalty Restrict the trade so you can rip your customers off with parts , gouge every cent you can from them at the dealers , .

Harley for my money have run there course , they have the baby boomers buying big and spending the money but there not attracting the younger guys and pricing themselves out , I said it before these dealers are shitting in there own nest and it will bite them on the arse .

Go spend 35 grand on a electra glide , spend it on a Honda goldwing . do 70,000 klm on them both in 2 years and see what you get for your Harley . And does it make a difference to me FUCKEN OATH ,,, why simple in 2 years i've put 35,000 klm on my harley and 40 ,000 on my other bikes..
