I have volunteered to overhaul the clutch in a mates FXR. The last Harley I owned was a 73 FX so as you can imagine I'm a bit out of touch. Is there anywhere online I might find some info with regard to tooling etc.
first of all get yourself a workshop manual look for a CLYMER workshop manual ,i completely built my old 85FXR with one of these books and it had all the info i needed.the only special tool i made was cutting the end off a big ring spanner to put on the compensating sprocket on the engine, slid a 3 foot lenght of pipe over it .jammed up the clutch sprocket with some little lead blocks or aluminium {i had both} back wheel on the ground and that big tight nut will come undone.go BARNET heavy duty ,these are great frictoins ive never needed to change the steels as they were still within tolerance thickness wise.
