Hey guy's, I'll be buying either a 2010 or 2011 nightster at the end of the year, and would just like a bit of advice in regards to buying some pipes to put on it. My preference is Vance & Hindes, but the question remains do I buy them here, or is it cheaper to bring them into the country, or option 3 would be to have them put on if I buy the bike new Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Rossco.
If you can do mechanical stuff yourself then do it yourself, but remember if you change the complete exhaust system you also have to change the aircleaner also update the ecm. Just in parts alone it will be costly then you will have to add the cost of labour to fit the parts at the dealer.
Maybe easier to purchase the pipes and aircleaner from the USA then fit them or give the parts to the Dealer to fit them for you.
AS you stated you where getting this bike at the end of the year maybe think about getting a good deal from the Dealer when you purchase the bike. Good luck and realise they will be loud :-)
Well Guy's & Gal's, It seems that i can leave the air intake pretty stock, but after what I've been reading I think I'll be changing it if it's a paper filter that comes stock with the bike. Also is there any reason that I should place the fuelpack & throttlepack on the bike when changing the pipes???
Thank's humongus For the Heads-Up
Have a look at the following link, cant beat it! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/V-H-47219-Shortshots-Black-Sportster-883-1200-XL-07-UP-/370506145924?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5643e32084
You'll find em cheaper if you hunt around.................
I was quoted over $1000 from the stealer when I bought the bike, however managed to get my pipes and installation for under $700.00!!
The labour is the easy bit, I was quoted an hour's work to install the pipes and 1/2 to install my heavy breather and race tuner!
I could be wrong, although I am pretty confident that you would not get the V & H Short Shots installed via the dealer for under $1k. Most places start for parts only @ $1000.00?
Happy to eat my words if I'm wrong, although when you do the change over fo link I provided on eBay it comes in at approximately $520, which IMO is fucking cheap as!!! You whack on 2 x hrs (worst case scenario) of labour at about $125 ph and your still walking away for $750.00
the only running around you'll need to do is getting the bike and pipes over to a workshop, evertyhing is delivered directly to your door!

Hey guy's, I'll be either looking at the Double Barrel or the Twin Slash Slip-Ons. Now the Double Barrel on the V&H site are around $500:00 mark but when you start looking around Aus I'm looking at $1000:00 go figure The Twin-Slash Slip-Ons also would be a good choice considering they would stick with the original look of the bike and are priced a bit cheaper. I shouldn't complain though considering I paid $1000:00 for the Staintune I've stuck on my DR
