Have you checked front wheel bearing and brake pads ..... i had a similar mystery which turned out to be a bolt on my front brake caliper had vibrated out and the caliper was not sitting in the right position.

It's your new leather pants sliding on the seat when you roll off the gas.

I think it would be your belt, they make a chirping noise sometimes. Its a sign that your belt is either dirty, worn, misaligned or not the correct tension.Start by cleaning it then a bit of silicon lube, check the tracking and tension.Last if it still shits you replace it.,Hope its an easy fix.

No idea. May be worth putting up on the post where you think the squeak may be coming from.
I do have a story to tell though whiuch may make you laugh/make you think I'm a dickhead/etc/etc. I heard a rattle noise that pissed me off while riding. It would only happen at speeds above 50 kays or so. Checked everything out on the bike, nothing was loose. I'm thinking " fcuk me ... what's goin on" . On the next ride ( to work ) I heard it again, and then I realised what it was. The rattle I was hearing was actually the top button of my jacket flapping in the wind and hitting my helmet. OK SEQ crew, let the piss taking begin.

Flood water and dirt roads ? definitely check for dry wheel bearings.

I agree with smeenm, sounds like the belt. Go and raid the misses cleaning cupboard for the Mr Sheen. Its silicone and works a treat not just on your paint and chrome, but on the belt as well.

some Evo engines whistle through the breathers when you back off, specially if the have a few kays on em. sounds like a cross between a whine and a whistle, but only when you back of,more prevelant when its cold or wet or both. something to do with the breather set up in the heads. fairly common.

Sounds like the belt, when you throttle off the belt flexes, tension goes from top of the belt to the bottom and makes the sound,Try and tighten the belt a little.
    Ear plugs thats the solution....lol

Hey mate, I have a 97 Fatty that makes what I suspect is the same noise. Its belt chirp mate most likely. Check your tension....you should be able to only twist the belt 45 degrees is a rough bush mechanic guide. Give it a clean and use the Mr Sheen or you can get proper drive belt lube. I personally dont worry about it mate.

Also if it belt chirp.... you said you didnt hear it on the country roads.... could that just be because you were on open roads - there were no median strips and concrete dividers everywhere to bounce the noise back into your ears?

I reckon if it is belt chirp you woudnt hear it near as much on open roads (especially that low down on a bike). My sporty does whine a little when backing off the throttle, but it seems to come from the air box as someone else mentioned.

check out ya gear linkage from frt to gearbox .see if its loose at all . while you are riding put your heel against the rear shifter and see if that helps get rid of the sound . It happened to me on my roadking very annoying.
