Hi riders,
Could someone please help me as I am new to the Harley Davidson World.
I have recently purchased a sportster 2007 883Low and I would like to do the following modifications to it.
I would like some guidance and help so that I dont make mistakes and waste money.
1) I want to do the ignition and coil relocation.
-Would this one for sale on ebay be okay?

2) I would like to add a large front tyre like the one on a Sportster 48.
How would i go about doing this? Can I just go and purchase any 16 inch rear wheel off any sportsters 2007?
I was planning to buy this dyna wide glide triple tree is this suitable for this type of wheel?

3) I would like to chop the fender like some of the forum member here. It make the bike look very aggressive.
-What is the best indicator and brake light combination?
-What type of angle grinder should i use?
-Any special tips or advice when I am cutting the fender?
I have noticed that once the rear fender is chopped. It still have a very large gap from the wheel. I find this not very nice.
To make this fender closer to the wheel I have noticed that ppl often use a rigid bar. I was wondering if anyone has just dropped the fender down closer to the wheel by re-drilling the hole on the side of the rear fender and strut brace and just lowering the fender down. This way we could continue using the original shocks ?
4) what is the cheapest way to widen the rear tyre on the sporster?
Thank you very much for all your time.

Nam, that relocation kit will work. With regrards to the 16 inch wheel I don't see why with the right spacers they shouldn't fit on a wide glide setup. My only issue is when changing from a 19" or 21" front wheel you have now with your sporty setup ti a 16" wheel you might change the trail on the bike. You might need longer fork tubes to maintain the same trail. I'm not 100% sure on this so your best bet is to ring Vulcan Engineering and ask these questions. Also, the skinny sportster forks might look funny with a 16" front wheel, then you have to adjust the rear suspension to balance everything out as well.
If you want to chop the fender look at Kingchops post http://www.hdforums.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=71&forumid=1&postid=296949&view=topic
You can use any angle grinder, just need a cut-off disc and a steady hand. Mark off where you like to cut, cut on the outside of the line so you have enough material to grind off a nice finish. What would be better is leave and extra half inch or so to bolt on a nice fender tip.
If you want to lower the fender, buy a set of lower shocks, looks better than a rigid bar and much less work than driling holes and your back will thank you for it. Also, what happens when you drill all the holes, it doesn't look right?
Cheapest way to widen a rear tyre is to stick a 160 on without any probs. If you want to go wider, you'll need a new hub and run a sprocket.
After spending all the $$$, all the labour, coming across any issues & in the end you might not achieve the look your after, why not trade in your Low for a 48?? IMO I think that's the look you're trying to achieve.
Go for it Nam,
I bought my better half a Supperlow for Christmas. Finding it hard not to interfere in customizing HER bike ! So far I have added HD tribal handgrips/footpegs/shifter peg, Black XR gear/rear brake levers, Smoked blinker lenses. She is just waiting on a V&H Fuelpak so match up with the SE Airfilter and V&K RSD Tracker 2 into 1 Exhaust.
Meanwile my own 1200C sporty is sitting ther saying what about ME ! Also waiting on some bits to upgrade the Heritage, it never ends.
