pretty sure this fuelpak on my Ultra is causing all sorts of problems.
Traded my softail in for a friend's 105th anniversary Ultra (I'm a sucker for a nice Electraglide). Had my softtail setup real nice with my PCIII and she had all the grunt I wanted. The ultra is good too until you get out and give it some throttle and it feels like it is starving for fuel. Most disconcerting when you're ripping into a corner and you need some more juice to accellerate out and the engine stalls.
I think it's time to chuck the Fuelpak and buy a TTS so I can get some real tuning done.
Has anyone else had probs with Fuelpaks and 08 Ultra's??
I feel a bit embarrassed that I opened this thread ... on further checking I've found that my regulator is stuffed and is overcharging. That explains when I hit higher revs, the reg breaks down totally and stops outputting all together giving me that stalling and backfiring .
I'm still going to get a TTS and piss off that stupid Fuelpak. I did find that mode 1 was set wrong at 10 instead of 0. My baby idles much better now.
...and the final fix on the bad running was a broken wire on my crank sensor. It failed totally the other morning and set a couple of codes on the speedo diagnostics. Followed the nice little flowchart in the diags manual which took me right to the correct wire in the harness and wadda ya know ... open circuit. Looks like the previous owner had picked up a stick or something which may have stretched the cable to the crank sensor which runs under the front of the engine.
All fixed now and running like a charm...
