    Hi guys,

am new to this site as a member, but have spent many hours looking through forums as a non member, and i must say it is has a wealth of info!!

my help refers to my current ride, a 2010 electra glide with the 96 in it,

bike purchased new the first week of march 2011,

from new i had screamin eagle pipes and air cleaner etc, and sreamin eagle tuner.

problems to date are after pick up of bike from dealer, with 000 klms, rode home, within first 50klms bike started to back fire at 80>100klms per hour, rode next day same thing was happening, backfiring and missing, informed dealer and took it back, he tried to retune it with s/e tuner, no go, so gave me a loan bike over the weekend, then brings my bike back following week, took for ride, no missing or backfiring, but seemed to be running to hot or to lean, and coughing aout and stalling at idle speed which was around 900rpm, was just self stalling at idle when going to throttle up, rang dealer again, and took back for service, he retuned again with s/e tuner, said he richened it up a bit and see how it goes,, grrrrrr, went on trip to newcastle to ulysses agm from wagga wagga, same thing, coughing out and stalling at idle speed, mainly when coming to a complete stop with throttle off,, nearly tail ended a few times, but was running nice at highway speed 100kph,

returned to wagga , rang dealer again, he picked up bike, had it for a week, checked 02 censors, and had injectors sonic tested,, replaced seals and o-rings etc etc,, but had him totally confused as to why bike was coughing out, he rang state HD tech for advice, retuned and sent back to me, took bike for 300klm trip, not coughing out no more, but still not running as thought it should, idle still at 900 rpm,

another thing after ride i noticed was that left pipe is black and right pipe is not, unusual as pipe is 2 into 1 into 2, stange to say the least, this is my first new harley i have owned, did have a second hand 2002 heritage softail before this, damn that bike was never a problem for 30000klms,

would appreciate any assistance or knowledge to help me solve what problem may lay with the glide, as dealer seems to be lost to from what i can gather, and to date i,m getting fed up with , should ride like a new bike, as that was what i paid for, a quiet a lot at that. at moment feel like taking it back and telling dealer to shove it where sun dont shine

any info from fellow members would be very appreciated

    cheers johnno

Hi Johnno, welcome to the forum..... I can't help you with your problem, but if  your bike is under warranty the dealer should have the responsibility of diagnosing your problem and fixing it for you.

Just out of curiosity, I thought they dropped the Electraglide from the 2010 line up? From what I remember it was discontinued after 2009??? .... I could be wrong.

Hopefully someone will chime in with some helpful advice.

     Hey Johnno

It's heartbreaking when your new scoot is not running as it should - it's under warranty so loose no sleep as your dealer needs to find a solution & fix this for you. Hope it's all sorted to your satisfaction very soon.

    Cheers

    Glen.

mate id be going the dealer and jumpin on someones head ! id also be getting rid of the s/e tuner and fitting a thundermax or tts setup! the pipes are diffrent esp if the flapper is still used as it routes exh thru left side only at specific revs etc which when stock muffs are on is a very small opening about 1"/1 1/4" size left is 1 3/4"ish opening.hope your dealer fixes it soon mate :)

Just a thought on one pipe is black, the other is not.
I am not sure about your 2010 Glide but my 2011 Road King has a valve in the exhaust that either opens or closes when i give it a fist full. It become a lot louder. One would think one of the pipes is a lot less restricted and when i open it up the valve directs the exhaust to that pipe. Which way it is set up i don't know but you can see the valve on the inside of your pipes just near where they join together. There is also a wire which pulls the valve open/closed. If your set up is the same could explain why the pipes are a differant colour.
