Cowboys Mod Idea to stock Ultra Header Pipes

Hello Friends,  now I am an Engineering Tinkerer, Inventor for my Business, see if this idea flys as I don't have a stock exhaust to look at right now.  My CVO Street Glide is all V&H Power Duals, and I gave away the stock CVO exhaust on my Ultra now sold... He took the stock one too... Dumb of me..  Anyway, see if you think this idea flys:

Last night, thinking about the performance of the V&H Power Duals, with the venturi effect that helps "extract" the exhaust from the cleaning cylinder on the firing stroke of the other cylinder... Those of you into the engineering of a 4 stroke cleaning cycle will know what I mean..  The "Venturi Effect" seems to actually work, helping to suck out the exhaust on the cleaning stroke cycle as the compression stroke (firing) cylinder exhausts...    That is why Power Duals Dyno higher HP that just about any other extractor pipes..   The problem is that I like the look of the V&H Dresser Duals better, on my BIG BLUE coming...

Now here is the crazy idea I thought of last night:  There is NO cross-over so no VENTURI EFFECT on the Dresser Duals, people report a little less power, and V&H got back me with some Engineering.  They said:      "You will lose 3 horse power by choosing the Dresser Duals over the Power Duals."    Now the Stock OEM pipes do have a cross-over.   They have to for that bloody flap to work.  It would be nice to have the Dresser Duals look PLUS a cross-over for the Venturi Effect.  Without going extractor pipes shopping, I though why not Mod the existing pipes?  The Cats (Catalytic converters) can come out, like brittle ceramic wafer that rams out with a rod.  Mark the cross over pipe under the frame, for easy re-assembly, then: Cut the crossover pipe where it goes under the frame, ram out the Cat in crumbles, and then TIG Weld it shut on the marks for alignment.  The other Cat, is a straight shot in the pipe to ram out so not a problem...   Then take a hole saw and cut out the whole flapper assembly clean, and TIG a stainless plate over the hole.

Then I have that Dresser Duals look WITH A VENTURI cross over, with stock pipes,  for only the cost of elbow grease and the TIG welding stainless.    What do you think?  Can anyone shoot holes in my Theory?

    Hello Hogbagger,

You saying we are going to get EPA inspections here in Oz???  Never heard of such a thing.  On our bikes?  If that were true then yes I would need to keep the stock pipes...  Can't see it happening here in Australia.

Mind you they probably throw away sets at the local HD every week...   What do you think about the engineering concept anyway?......

Cowboy, I agree with Hogbagger.... there are plenty of aftermarket header pipes that retain the "stock" look as they use the stock heatshields. Fuel Moto Jackpots would be my first choice.

Don't fuck up your stock header pipes, you might need them someday.

What, let me get this straight, you think they are going to go like Californication and do annual inspections?  CAN'T SEE IT... Half the vehicles out there would be rejected on that with modded exhausts !!!

On second thought, may not for the bloody Greenie EPA, but maybe for noise?    Oh, you Mates are costing me a lot of money, and then the chrome is all up on the shelf??  #@%&!!    Your really think there is a chance.. ???   Nutz, if this is real, I will have to go for something like the V&H Dresser Duals...

    Perish the thought...

2nd Post to you Berms:  I called an Insider at HD Australia, and he was nice enough to tell me the following words to the effect:  "They have been talking about that for 20 years now, but the huge distances to Inspection Stations from remote areas make the whole prospect impractical, too expensive, and extremely unlikely..."        But I take your point....

    Best regards, Cowboy

I thought the invention might help others that were not so Blessed.   I will not Post or share any more ideas thanks to the Knockers.  I am an inventor and Old School Bike builder, and thought some would appreciate the idea.   I was just sharing a little enthusiasm, and a few of your responses have been quite ugly for no reason.    I will otherwise occupy the waiting for my new Ultra, and decide which CVO to keep on my own or save it for Brothers that fly it to ride up here.

Sorry, I thought I was amongst Brothers, sharing a little fun and enthusiasm to fill in the time, and a couple of the responses have been surprisingly negative in nature.  In the Old School, Brothers took better care,  it is obvious that I have expected to much.  This Knocker attitude is what holds us back. in Australia. The poor remarks, will only be reflected in the quality of your success in life.  Good Luck to you knockers, you are going to need it.

C'mon guys, I tend to believe that this site is for HD enthusiasts and to be one of those you don't even really need to own one. So let's not knock those lucky enough to have more than one and believe me after reading quite a few posts since joining this forum, there are plenty of those people. This is afterall an open and free to post forum so let's simply encourage everyone to post and possibly even entertain us all with some different ideas and lateral thinking.

    Have a good Easter everyone...

Well, thanks to you knockers Phantom and Doggy Dave, you've lost me...  Yes I was an excited little kid waiting for my new scooter... EXCUSE Me...

As a matter of fact, I help a lot of people, just for example:  I  am the chief sponsor a program with 220 special needs children, and also sponsor a Food Bank and bought them a refrigerated truck they needed, and help a breakfast for Street People, A soup kitchen for the Needy....and more .  And I have 48 loyal Employees, more than half of which have been with me for over a decade,  and 300 Suppliers...  As a matter of fact you YOBBO knockers, I even put MY OWN money in to help a Brother get a new Harley just this year because he Ordered it and then fell on tough times and could not pay it off to pick it up..  I do my share... How about you two, just bagging other people out and knocking them does it all for you I am sure.  You ever help a Brother pay for his Harley when he was on tough times?  Naw, to busy bagging people out I am sure.

Any Forum that would allow  Negative Knockers like you two, without censoring your or Banning you altogether,  Is a Forum I don't need to be a part of.  Congratulations you Baggers, it is Knockers like YOU that hold this Country back..

Yea, I am guilty of filling in a little time, maybe putting in a little too much enthusiasm looking for ideas on what to do with my scooter coming...    But I help a lot more people that you two do, I am quite sure of that, and directly because of your nasty attitudes I will go elsewhere with my generousity rather than share it here.  I will not open this again so save your breath, you have lost the most generous person you will ever be lucky enough to meet. And the Blessings I enjoy are a direct result of the good I do for other people ALL the time.

Forum Administration, I am a Forum Administrator myself with over nearly 2000 Registered and 5000 or more Visitors, and I spend considerable time offering help and troubleshooting technical problems and support..  I would suggest you offer some guidance on manners and politeness to enhance this Forum.  It should be a place where people can share a little enthusiasm and ideas, without the nasty bad tastes of knockers...  Good Luck in the future...  But if it were a more positive place, you would find it a lot more active and constructive.

    Good Bye.
