So I've had my Sportster 48 for a couple of weeks now, and just like my old 883.. the brakes are average to say the least.
With my old 883 I went down the path of the Wilwood 4 piston caliper and it was always a bit rubbish as well (stock master cylinder doesn't really push enough fluid).. not to mention it blew all of its seals.
So, this time around, I don't want to get into caliper changes and it just seems to lead on to other things.
I've been considering going to braided lines, floating disc and some new pads (not sure which type).. Is this going to give me much though? or are we talking fractional increases?
Have gone to braided lines, XR caliper and that works just great on our 48.
Im very surprized to hear you had a problem with Wilwood, We have been selling their Products in Aust for 25 years and I have never had any issuse's or come backs .
I would like to know what Grade of Brake Fuild you where using, as Wilwood only recomend a minumin of DOT 5., ,,,Im guessing this is were you had gone wrong.
Yes you should upgrade to a 9-1/6 Master Clyinder as the Stock 1/2 Sportster is a bit small for a 4 Piston Cailper
I reckon the Lyndall Gold pads are well worth the money!
