    Hey all,

just bought a cheap FXRG jacket from House of Harley in the US ....   one of the emails from the dealer has the following info ....

Harley Dealers will not ship internationally from Aug 1 this year - and will no longer sell on ebay/amazon from Jan 2012

So buy up before Aug if you were looking at parts or gear from a Harley dealer/Dealer website.

I would think that private sellers will still be selling items on ebay and shipping internationally.

** IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ BELOW **

Effective January 1, 2012, Harley-Davidson® will not allow Dealers to sell
on eBay and Amazon. Please join us at our new website:   ........

    ** INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS **

Effective August 1, 2011, Harley-Davidson® has implemented a new policy where
all U.S. dealers no longer can ship orders to an address outside of the United
States. (APO/FPO addresses are excluded.)  Please make plans now to place
new orders before this date. We welcome you to visit our dealership in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, home of Harley-Davidson® and the Harley-Davidson Museum.

    cheers

HD Aus must have whinged about lost revenue...always ways around stuff like this...this would only apply to HD Dealers, lots of forum memebers buy off non-dealers...bet ya the USA dealers are spewing, now they have lost a whole country as a market...what HD Aus has to understand is that the world is a small place now and they need to adjust.

Are M&M a registered HD dealer or private business? I order most of my parts from them, don't want to have to start looking elsewhere.
The recent thread about harley heaven had me checking out their deals but, although helpful, they couldn't compete with the prices I was quoted from M&M.

New it wouldn't be long with Gerry Harvey having a sook in the press and all the other retailers getting behind him, sounds like the Aus HD dealers have been lobbying the factory about losing sales to the US.
What ever happened to the rule of supply & demand?

ah, fuck 'em anyway. We'll find a way somehow.....end of rant

I am sure we all have friends in the US that can buy and ship, not a real problem. Ebay has ruined every other parts market, why not the ones that can benefit us???

And if you are looking for harley jackets, boots and stuff like that, these are meant to be geniune thing..... just a near wholesale price. Even cheaper if you get 2 or more with mates!

Before they enter the west and are marked up 5 - 8 times the price

I reckon the same will happen with the import bikes soon enough - they're coming in far too cheap. But there will definitely be a way around the parts issue as us humans are a cunning bunch and the interweb will find a way!

Just realised there are two parallel threads going on this - same subject/topic but one includes the word 'websites' and the other doesn't!

Bad news indeed - expect the local stealers to mark their shit up even more now. Very short sighted. Might have to buy up on jackets & popular parts & sit on them for a while.

Sorry to bust the bubble guys but most of HD parts are made outside of the US so it is just a matter of finding the manufacturers of these parts ( e.g. rims are made in South Australia).I am sure that there are enough computer savvy members to source this info. You might not be able to purchase them with the HD logo stamped on them but the article will be as close as the manufacturing agreement will allow it to be HEY it might even be better quality. Also HD leather and most of the bling is made in CHINA read your labels and the exact same article can be sourced on many internet sites at less than one third of the price that the dealers sell for. Once again the high paid execs have shot themselves in the foot at the expense of their home country dealers. HA HA

Just a thought any one thought of building a HD by buying parts from other countries other than US or Aus?

I just received a quote from Luke and highly recommend you take the time to price what you need from overseas, then provide him with the quote and give him a chance to price it here.

You may be quite surprised.... I'm ordering what I need from him-- the quote was close enough for me......

No good blaming ebay for anything, they havent put a stop to this.

I for one am pleased they cannot sell on ebay as its hard for other sellers to compete when you have dealers selling on ebay cheaper.
The ebay sellers buy from these dealers at normal price, they need to put a mark up on them and make some profit, with dealerships selling on ebay they sell at the price we paid for, not the price we list at so how can we compete with them, when they would buy 1000's at a time and get them probably at a 1/4 of the price they are selling them for.

Its good to get rid of one lot of competition.

883n Thanks for the purchase and I always aim to please :-)

Its also good to know an aussie based dealer will match the USA dealers prices, my partner has bought lots of items from the USA as he could get them so much cheaper from there with shipping and the currency conversion.
Ive not read all of your posts Luke but presume you get your stock from AU or if not you get it from the USA, so when the USA stop sending to you how then will you get the items, or do you have a mate over there who can get it for you?

If you dont get any replies from me its because im out and not ignoring you lol

Who are some US based dealers who ship O/S?

HH have been great with price matching but what I'm after is 'special order' from the factory so they are at the mercy of HD Aus.

Ironically its cheaper for me to get a primed tank and metal flake painted by HD in the US than it is to get my existing tank painted locally.. crazy..
