Starter motor fitting

    wot model bike is it?. belt primary? stock  etc.

    g day i sell a lot of starters for cars and fork lifts. He it has the seal (wet clutch type) you should be right but can you fit the deflector as well?l

    i cant see any reason for fitting the defelector anyway. if all the seals are in place there shouldnt be any need for one. 84 would have the old style solenoid facing forward in the primary cover and is protected by a rubber boot. and the jack shaft assy is fitted through the primary via a seal. if it is for chain oil and crap from the drive chain, it is again protected by a seal. i have an 85 wide glide running the same set up and i have never fitted or had an oil deflector on it. my bike is still on its original starter motor etc and has done over 400000ks.

    the starter motor shown in the pics come with a deflector wether it is needed or not. i have fitted 4 or 5 of these starters and have never had to use a deflector on any of the early Evo powered bikes.
