Has anyone ever purchased tyre and rim insurance?  And does this sound reasonable?

If you have ever punctured a tyre or damaged a wheel, you would know that repair or replacement costs can quickly add up. However, with Harley-Davidson Tyre & Rim Insurance you can now protect these assets for a one of payment of $399 for 3 years.

Cover is available for accidental damage to tyres and rims caused by the vehicle being driven over potholes, kerbs or road debris, including accidental tyre punctures or blowouts. Towing Costs up to a total of $120 is also included when you are travelling far from home. Cover will include the replacement of up 2 tyres per year up to $350 and up to $1000 to repair a wheel if it is cracked or warped by misshapen on road.

So I take it the insurance is offered by HD Aus?
Does it only cover OEM wheels/tyres or any aftermarket wheels you might have on?

well i got this email from the dealership, i think it would be OEM wheels to start with, but if you have after market wheels then they would assess and give you a quote...

Do you think it is worth insuraing OEM wheel?, the attractive part is the tyres (2 per year)...but it would not include normal wear and tear. Considering i would do approx 5-6000 km's per year

Insurance rip off I reckon. They'll find some excuse not to pay up.
