Helmet painting legalities..

Just curious what guys may know about this..

Legally you are meant to have the ADR sticker on the outside and stitched in panel inside right?

What happens if you only have the one on  the inside.. ie, you get your helmet custom painted? I'd love to get an open face painted in some obnoxious metal flake with tasty pin striping!

As far as I can see on their websites, both Vicroads and RTA(NSW) just require the helmet to have a mark indicating AS1698 or AS/NZS1698 approval.

So, going on that then either sticker on outside or mark inside would be ok.

    Burto.

For sure they will fine you for not having the ASA sticker. Its all about money !!

I think it depends on the Copper. Someone posted on here a story where a Copper pinged him for no AS sticker and the Rider offered to show the AS label inside the lid. Copper wasn't interested and that was that (if memory serves). I'd definitely challenge that one in Court

But shame if it has to come to that. On second thoughts, if 'visible sticker' is Law then it's worth finding exactly what the Law says - it must be written somewhere in your State Law and it can't be that hard, surely?

Had a cop at Singleton ask me to remove my helmet and inspect the stitched label. Depends on the copper.
