Taking the old Heriglide. Probably be sitting outside with a coffee and a smoke by the time you get there. Plan on leaving home early and doing a few klicks just to warm up....

Met up with DW and his lovely lady Michelle at BP Yatala and DW let me know that Jilli and Kusso wouldn't be coming along but wanted us to take on the responsiblities of having drinks for them.  Also got a message from old mate that he wouldn't be able to hook up with us at Grafton so it was down to the three of us.  So, all fueled and suitably attired, we headed off, kept the speed to a respectable level and cruised on down to Ballina.  Traffic was light and weather was good.  At Ballina, topped up on fuel and decided to push on to Grafton to have some lunch and refreshments.  It was here that Michelle decided that she didn't have enough layers on and went to level 6.  Don't think there was much left in the bag after that...  Back on the road and man, the country was looking great, hardly any traffic and both bikes running sweet.  Michelle  was happy hooked into the iPod (I think she was onto Presley by then) and there was no other place you would rather be.  Until we hit light rain about 50klms north of Grafton and this continued on and off right down to the turnoff.  Rolled into Grafton, found a very nice little pub (warm) and sat down to enjoy an excellent $10 lunch. Spent just over an hour there and then it was time to refuel and head up the hill.  Folks, I gotta tell you, if you haven't done this ride over the range, put it on your ride list.  Top level ride without a doubt.  Road was good, no traffic and very cruisy.  DW took point at the bottom of the range and we ended up having a break at the lookout for a stretch of the legs and a ciggie.  Back on the bikes and headed off to GI.  We pulled into the pub about 10 minutes after our southern brothers, sorted the rooms and unpacked.

Then it was time to get sociable, couple of light drinks, chit chat and banter, just what you want after a ride.  Everone enjoyed your typical pub meal for dinner, the lamb shanks and mash were mouth wateringly excellent.  The hosts of the pub were second to none, nothing was too much trouble except for when the first order for Fandangle hit. Soon sorted though, (think they had problems finding enough shooter glasses).  From there, depending on your perspective, the night slowly descended into controlled chaos.  We had a quiet table and we had a loud table.  Guess which one Baz was at???????.  It is here that I want to make special mention of  Michelle.  Michelle was and I repeat, was an overnighter virgin.  I think she may have had some reservations as to what was going to happen but thanks to the an ever present role model in Baz, Michelle partook of several rounds of shooters plus other intoxicating beverages and enjoyed herself immensely.  Finally at 1.00am, there seemed to be the same old faces left around the table (including Michelle) and we called it a night.  Next morning after a night of intermittant sleep (Share a room with Pearcy at your own risk, bastard is one of the worst snorers I have come across), time for a hot shower and rug up again.  Our hosts put on a top breaky of bacon, eggs, tomatos, mince and toast with coffee, tea and OJ.  Top feed after a big night.  Burra and Pearcy had to head off early so it was quick goodbyes to them.  The rest of the NSW crew headed off shortly after and it was just the Qlders left.  Hug and kiss from the Publicans missus and it was time for us to go.    As we came back the short way via Stanthorpe, we decided we would give Michelle a break at each town so it was stops at Tenterfield for a hot drink (Crappy) and another stop at Stanthorpe Junction for a bite to eat and drink.  Next stop was down the Gap to Aratula.  It was here that I said goodbye to DW and Michelle and headed for home.  I had a great ride down and back with two top people and look forward to doing it again sometime.   I think the memory of Michelle in 6 layers of clothing will always remain in my memory.  She looked like the Goodyear man but the main thing was she was warm and comfy.

As always, it was great to catch up with the NSW crew and enjoy their company again.  To all that attended, thanks for your company and the laughs.  To the Qld folks that could not come, we had enough drinks to include you as well.  We had good weather, great company and enjoyed a very cruisy ride and looked damn good doing it.

I just posted my pics in the photo section under FatBoyMick - Numb Nuts 2011.

Onya Michelle, Evo & DW.   Lovely to catch up, any time, with SEQ people.

I believe the publican ordered a fresh load of spirits as soon as all Numb Nut Riders departed.

Good that everyone enjoyed themselves, those that went anyway, well, what can i say, still in Bali, ahhhhh, sun is shining, beer is cold, sun is shining, be home in a few days people, back to the cold weather, this is the life, being waited on hand and foot, drinking lots, eating lots, soaking up the sun,  what more could you ask for. See you all in a couple of weeks.
