Hi All,
just a quick message to say I got back from Tassie not quite in one piece, was 30 minutes away from home on the 24th and the bike lost it in the wet on a bend near murrumbateman, still not sure exactualy what happened as it happened so quick, one minuted i was riding and taking it easy as it was raining and a split second later was rolling on the road.
Just got released today from the hospital, multiple breaks in my right collar bone, damaged/broken right wrist & broken left thumb.
Not Sure of the state of the bike but will do the calls with regards to insurance tomorrow.
Anyway, could have been a lot worse but my gear saved me from serious damage.
Cheers
Hidiho
shit m8..not good at all......hope ya heal well .....
Sorry to hear that but thank goodness you're ok.
Must be the season for it - I came very close to the same in the rain this weekend - downhill and slowing for a roundabout, lost the rear (one time when ABS would have been handy) and did a lot of fancy sliding keeping it upright - a lot more spectacular than the usual old lock-up fish-tailing. Of course you immediately forget those moments when you get away with them so bad luck that you had one to remember.
Keep us up to date with your recovery and the bike.
What a bugger! Sorry for your dents and heal fast fella! Any photos of your bike?
they reckon most accidents happen a kilometer from home , whoever THEY are , ???????.........never a good thing !!!!! hope you guys are okay , you can ride as safe as you can , but i think the odds are generally against us , do your best !!!
Heal quick mate
Hi all,
Went into Yass yesterday and gave my version of the accident to the police and he mentioned that there are quite a few accidents in the area where I crashed (sounds like you know the spot Firey as it sounds spot on), then went to the holding yard to take some snaps.
Damage seems all bolt on so i'm lucky there in one respect, the irony is that 60% of the damaged parts I have sitting at home in boxes as i was wating to finish painting my spare tanks and guards till I got back from holidays and the throw all the bling on at the same time.
From what I can gather what happened is that I hit a ultra smooth patch in the wet and the bike slide out from under me and landed on the right side, threw me off (and I tumbled) and then dug in and flipped to the left side. My saddle bags and wet bag took most of the impact (open face in the wet bag has more damage than the full face i was wearing at the time of the accident).
Checked the accident site on the way home and the patches are sitting there gleaming in the sunlight and looking like glass.
I spent 3 weeks in Tassie and did the West Coast (and Port Arthur) and used motels/cabins for half of the time and explored in and around the area in all directions which would added the K's to my holiday trip, loved the place and managed to become quite acustomed to the 99 bends @ Queenstown and the twisties on the way to Strahan, did a few nights camping at MT field, Cradle Mountain and Arthur River and had most of the rain at Port Arthur (3 days when i arrived) and Stanley (3 days) and was blowing a gale force wind and pissing down when i left Stanley and was being blown all over the place till i reached Burnie when the weather calmed down a little.
All in all i fell in love with Tassie and the people and seriously considering moving to the apple isle.
Anyway, shit happens as far as the accident goes but it hasn't put me off riding, just need to heal up and get my baby fixed first.
Thanks for all the well wishes.
P.S. Cactus i was about a week behind you camping at MT field and being hassled by possums :o)
Edit: darn pictures show up in the preview but not in the thread will see how it goes and try to fixed if not corrected

A very nice ride there - looking forward it seeing it after it's fixed up.
Hey Hidiho, sorry to hear about your injuries, it bloodywell happens very quickly, but the bike can be fixed..... I have a pair of Sonic mufflers w/ heat shields that i no longer use as I have the V&H...give me a PM, pay the postage and they are yours...might help the pain....get well soon....
hurts aye
Heal fast and get back on her
Thanks for the further comments..
Recieved a neg driving fine in the mail on Wednesday and went back to the accident site so i could take some photo's before asking for a review of the penalty.

Bike was dropped off at Robbo's Tuesday afternoon for insurance assesment and appears to be all cosmetic damage.
Jacks, thanks for your offer but i have 2 sets of spare US spec mufflers and the original mufflers still here in boxes so there is no problem with mufflers, but thanks for your offer anyway.
I'll be back to riding as soon as all injuries heal and the bikes ready, i have a suspicion it will be a while as there may be a delay with getting hold of a replacement tank.
Thanks All
