it's probably the octane of that particular fuel rather than the brand.  Higher octane is supposed to fix pinging but I didn't notice any difference when I had it.  With the TTS you should be able to retard your timing in the rev range that the pinging occurs.  That fixed it for me.

Im personally not a fan of shell fuel, as i found to lose power using it - Including my street/drag car using motec engine managment.

I recommend BP Ultimate or Mobil 8000 (Purple) both seem to be the most consistent in octanes.... however i have  had a bad batch in both, but very rarely.

I know this is  probably being a bit padantic, but i always ask the Petrol station attendant  what nights the tanks get refilled with ultimate, so i am getting close to the freshest batch.

If you would like to continue using shell, you may what to add  toluene 1:10 mix to erradicate ping, for every 10litres of fuel i mix 1 litre of toluene You can buy it in 20litres "Diggers:, but buy it form a speed shop or a dedicated drag racing fuel shop, its cheaper.

it can make your plugs go orange over time, but stick to 1:10 unless your exp.

p.s. where gloves and a face mask, its a carcinogenic and will make your B*lls fall off, .....kidding about them falling off. But seriously it has been directly linked to causing cancer after prolonged use. Be Careful.

You need to Vtune it on 95 as you have done it with synergy 8000, as you know i filled up at the same servo and only use shell as a last resort, mine does not ping on the same fuel.
I did my Vtune on 95 originally & i have not had detonation problems at all.
(could also be you need a 103 kit & cams) lol

    cheers

Just a thought ditch the seat for a solo, and all should be good.
Convincing the wife will be up to you.

    cheers

Thanks yob, took your advice and spoke to the mrs and put a solo seat on and all is great for me now.....unfortunately for you she wants to go on the back of your bike now. My advice for you is stay clear of shell fuel and raise your radius pipes ...cheers johno

Sorry just sold my rear pegs & badlander seat, you know what happens when mates wives ride on my bike.
might be worth doing a Vtune run with the mrs on board to fill in lower rpm & high throttle position and then a timing run in the hills.
    You know the number.
If you miss the potholes on right hand corners your radius pipes wont hit.....just a thought
    cheers Yob

Ive also had problems in the past with Shell fuel, not only in my car but also in my race karts (2 strokers) with fouling plugs.

As a result of that id rather push my bike to a BP than fill up at a Shell.

I dont use Shell;  just cause I dont.

But heard on a ride the other day few riders refuse to use Shell.

    Just sayin......................................

Generally speaking Steamer, I dont use SHELL, but when the main ride stops to refuel and it just happens to be SHELL I would rather stay with the pack than to go hunting for my preferred brand.

I've used shell v power for a couple of weeks with no problems.
