Easy to fit? Never done springs...
Stock ones are definately suss. City pot holes.
...and that bad for travel or good for looks?
Just had a set of ICON progressive fork springs put into my 2007 Sportster 883 Low as well. Instant difference in the ride and handling of the bike should had of done it sooner.
Used the recommended HARLEY fork oil (type E)
I used Motul Heavy 20W. With that and the nylon spacer supplied by Ikon (instead of the piece of thin exhaust pipe HD use) it took that clunk out of the front end.
yeah i put ikon pro. in mine the ride is sooooo much better might need to make the spacer bigger though after settling in any thoughts on that?
Just an update to where im at. with the 50mm spacers installed i had 10mm rider sag, which isn't enough from all the info i could find. And being way too stiff i though i'd do some more research and see what i could find out. So i have came to the conclusion that you need tt have 1/3 to 1/4 of your total travel as your rider sag. So with these details i decided to remove the spacers all together as i only have 1/10. So with no spacers and only using the end caps as my preload i rechecked my measurements. i now have 23mm rider sag, that equals to in-between 1/3 and 1/4. the bike feels a little softer to static bounce. I'm yet to take it for a ride and test - dam rain. Andrew
Edit : I just went for a spin and tried to run over as many bumps as possible, after removing the spacers it is 100% better. Seems to be good over all bumps and now i dont have feel all those little bumps/vibrations...braking seems to be good, i mashed the brake a few times and seem to want to pull up better, and dosnt dive as much as it did stock.....so far so good!
