Any advice?. Had my wet weather gear on at weekend and have managed to get burn/melted rubber or plastic  marks on my pipes.

Any advice as to the best way to clean the (plastic) marks off?

G`day Galloway , i have never heard of an easy way to get it off , but i use metho to clean chrome usually , though melted and baked on wets are a different story and i doubt there is an easy way , i have tried metho , soaking it with wax n grease remover , rubbing it with briteshine !
Ended up on a few occassions using me thumbnail if it`s only a bit , but after a somwhat wet tassie trip , me right side pipes were filthy with the shitand resorted too using a fine razor blade , just trying to keep it flush with the pipe but not actually digging in , it was working ok but did leave some fine scratches , some of which buffed out , though later was thinkin that next time it happens so much that i may try using vasoline to try too keep a slight film between the blade an pipe suface , not sure how it will go , but worth a try , it will be interesting too hear others ideas on the subject actually , Cheers , Skin

run the bike till the pipes are hot, then try using a cleaner to get the stuff off. Worked for me, takes a bit of time but it comes off eventually

Brasso is what I used. That has white spirits in it and fine abrasive. I also used cut and polish which done the job as well. The stuff I had on the pipes was from my heel of my boot. It came off after a couple of goes...I peeled the heavy stuff off with a sharp knife without scratching the chrome then went to town on it. At first I tried is cold but the rubber had hardened. I read here somewhere that another member had the same problem and heated up the bike then it came off easier

i recently gave my bike a good clean up preparing it for winter storage and had alot of burn marks on my pipes from my pants touching them while hot and no matter what i tried (including autosol) i couldnt polish it off, so as a last resort i took to the cold pipes with 2000 grit wet and dry to remove the built up crud. After this i used a mechanical buff and autosol and it brought the pipes up like brand new.

I had a plastic shopplng bag melt on to the chrome muffler.

Took it off with BigBoy soapy steel wool and water.   It does not scratch chrome.

Ended up doing the whole exhaust with it, came up nice.  Hope this helps
