    WTF!

Let me know what you guys were charged and what was done to the bike.

Want to know why prices would differ?

Heard people get charged 275 for first service Sporter Irons.

Dang...i am happy to pay but was not expecting it to be that much...I taking a TAFE course on motorcycle mechanics. When im done i will charge you guys half price! Do us all a favour...

looks like im in line with what you guys got charged...

Yeh i got quoted $150 to change the rear shocks...installed them myself, took 20mins.

And most blokes who work on your bike are just out of TAFE.

Its the labour cost that does the damage...they charge in 30min incriments. So if a job takes 10mins..they will charge you for 30mins worth of work.

     2010 Fatbob

    1600km service.............$354

    8000km service.............$365

16000km service...........$600+ (cant remember quote exactly)

Did it myself, took my time...........probably 3 hours or so.......ticked off everything in the service manual for 16000km service plus bled the brakes thoroughly (do this yearly!) Cost for parts/oils was around $100.

I know that everything and more was done on that list ......and done right!.......which is more than you could say for the stealers supposedly doing it!!

Warrantee?.......well who knows!.....but I can only take it up the arse for so long!!!!

    Burto.

My first service was $65 for oils & filter. Done by the boys at M&W @ Breaky Creek. First service experience was good thanks to Julian & his team.

to retain warranty, the bike have to be serviced at the dealer?

Don't get how some of you are scoring servicing for under 100 bucks...

nopro: doesn't matter as long as you use genuine harleys parts...u won't void warranty.

Burto: did u teach urself or did ya have previous knowledge?

    just on warranty,

say if you put some pipe and ac by your self will this void it?

  • melb-ourne

No..? Hope not. But if the new ac/pipe caused the problem then warranty is void.

maybe we should have a list of good qualified HD mechanics that people can recommend. if there is not already one.

Not overly fussed about the warranty, once you start to change a few things and make alterations it really doesn't matter!! I have always thought the warranty on bikes was pretty crap in comparison to car offerings. For example, I bought a Mazda in 2009 from Penrith Mazda (no comments on the car gentlemen, haha), they gave me a 3 year manufacturer and 3 year additional manufacturer if I had all services completed at the dealership. The whole thing is based around risk management i.e. - you have the vehicle serviced in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, it significantly reduces the likelihood of mechanical failure and covers their asses

I haven't ever spent HUGE amounts of money on bikes, however if I were to buy a new Fatboy or something worth $35+ I would expect a lot more than a two year dealership warranty, otherwise you're not really getting the coverage you're paying for?

    My 2c worth.......................

First service for me was $320 at the dealer - seems about the going rate. Felt like OK value to me, after the last service on my Ducati came in at $1,200  Dear me, I said, that is quite a lot of money for a service.

Just had the first service on the 48 done down south, they fitted breather kit and reprogramed $350.

But from now on it's K&M's bike

Fair enough you wouldnt expect to pay for that Scouser.

Did they charge you for headstock? I would assume that would HAVE to be part of any normal service right?
