Hey guys I have a 2010 softail and have a Le Pera barebones solo seat fitted to it. The seat looks great but on long runs it becomes a pain in the ass so I was wondering if anyone out there had any useful feedback on the Airhawk Seat cushions. They sound good in theory but I was hoping to get some real world info on them. Any help would be appreciated.

The trick with the airhawk is to have hardly any air in it. Having too much air is worse than not having the airhawk. Sometimes in summer riding, after stopping with the bike in the sun, the airhawk expands, & if you don't let some air out, you will wonder why its so uncomfortable. They are sensational on long rides & in very hot weather as it keeps your arse just off the seat.

I used one on for a few days on my trip back from Perth and hated it. Talking to Pearcy He reckons I must of had it too inflated.
They have a 60 day money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose by trying it and they are fairdinkum to deal with.

    Here is my experience...

All the air cells are joined so you accelerate and your arse rocks back on the airhawk with the air going to the front.
You brake and your arse rocks forward on the airhawk.
You go over a bump and as your butt comes back down to the seat, all the air goes to the place of least resistance and uppercuts you in the cods which hurts like hell.

I have done a several long rides, the Perth trip was upto 1100km per day. I would not wear draggin jeans on really long trips again either as the knitted kevlar seat of the pants is more uncomfortable than wearing leathers.

Whilst I hated using the airhawke, heaps of people like them so give it a go you can always get your money back if it is not for you.

First time I used mine I didn't like the feel which was like sitting on an...um...air cushion (or waterbed) even though I thought I didn't have it pumped up much. I kept letting air out until I thought my bum was back on the seat again and thought that now it would be too low. BUT at the next lights I took it off to compare with back to normal and got such a shock at the difference I had to pull over and put it back on. I've never used it since because I'm trying to look tough like you idiots, but definitely will if I have any distance to do. It's great.

Mine took a bit of getting used to and a bit of adjusting the air to get it just right. My better half and I just recently did 934 k's in 10.5 hours on the heritage fitted with the Airhawks. Previously 500-600 and the bossgirl had had enough.
    Cheers
