Skull,
You got it right. 3mths loss or 12mths with 2 points.
Go the 3mts option..12mths is too long to be watching your speedo
This is a subject close to my heart. I imported a hot car from Japan a few months back. Only 2 days after legalizing it on the road I was zapped by a Multanova in a new restricted zone near Mandurah south of Perth. Sadly for me it was Easter so I lost 6 points for doing 102 in an 80 zone. Only a few weeks earlier it was a 100 zone.
A few weeks later I copped another one at 112 in a 100 and lost another 2 points.
Currently I am sitting on 10 points with 2 years before I lose 2 of them. Strangely, I don't feel like a criminal. I happily admit to being in the wrong and the fines hurt bigtime but I don't feel that banning me from driving will make me a better driver in the future so what was the point ............ apart from raisng some funds. It will simply make me more contemptuous of the law and increase my dislike of our over-regulated nanny-state.
I reckon many of us get a bit frustrated by very slow traffic lights which just might make us boot it a bit faster than we should do when the lights hit green.
In Viet Nam and North Borneo many of the traffic lights have a brightly lit countdown clock next to the lights which counts down the seconds until the red goes to green. This helps reduce the impatience of the driver-in-a-hurry..... he/she can read the paper or check their SMS's. Surely it's time we at least TRIED something like this! The WA Office of Road Safety is an absolute farce. They would be happy to bring in a 20km/hr speed limit if it saved just one life.
They brought in 50km/hr limits on all residential roads a few years back. The road toll has actually INCREASED since then. Good idea at the time. It FAILED! Do you think they are going to put the limit back up to 60??? Fat chance.
In the meantime we all pay an absurd price for being a little bit careless and are treated by the media as "hoons". In 30 years of driving I've had one near miss (kid changing direction crossing road) and once hit a roo (in a car). My insurance company must love me! I could have bought another Harley with the money I've spent on premiums. )
OK...... I feel better now.......... for a few days.....
Good luck to all you guys who have to handle that 3 months ban. Drink lots of piss and ride a bike..... they can't suspend a licence that you don't have!!
cheers

You have more chance fighting a drink driving charge than you do a speeding fine
