I find that my bike runs great with all the values set to 14.6 closed loop when vtuning, but for my final tune where i go to reset the afr to the original cal listing its not as good? - it seems to prefer the afr table in closed loop? unless i havent got enough data?
also is the closed loop bias where i tune for power and economy?
argh pls help
Hi Hilly, There is - if this what your thinking?
But check this graph out on the ve table, looks a little strange?
Probably not enough hits, 30mins riding, 2nd vtune
Blended final v tune

Hi AJ56, 2OFPS which i think is the max?
111 hits in 30mins is not enough. do what hilly said, go up through the ranges in 5kph slots to count of 10, in each increment and back down again, Do this 3 times per tune and you should see some population of the Histogram. Also use some rear brake to place some strain on the motor is you are not comfortable at the higher speeds. If you do that and you are still not getting enough hits then something is not right with your setup. Stick with it mate you will get there in the end. Also I am not to sure of your CLB settings, to my mind they look a bit on the lean side but your bike is a sportster so I may be wrong.
how much of the original map can you keep in closed loop without causing it to lean out? - thanks for the tips Hilly and AJ56 as that has been an issue for me, getting enough hits.
I wouild be prefer to run it in closed loop permanently but i read in the manual this could cause lean situation, however the manual gave an example of closed loop scenario ?? - i wonder how much you could get away with?
They are staying there i just cant figure out why the bike was running so good with all the cells set to 14.6 closed loop and as soon as i finalized and restored the afr table to original. It was rough and lost power. i dont totally understand the closed loop bias yet, I understand that it richens and leans the closed loop cells?? increasing it to 680, 720 what will this do?
Midnite a couple of us had the same problem with our Skirties.
Ozroder stepped in and pointed us in the right direction, you need to set your CLB to 720 for Vtuning, if you have already done all your Vtunes set it to 680 and see how that goes.
Thanks Bakes, do you leave the 720 for the final tune aswell?
I dropped mine back to 680 and found it run better on my bike, but from memory ssmour left his at 720 and he was happy with that.
if you have completed all your Vtunes and you are happy with them set it at 680 and go from there, you will soon know which CLB setting works for you.
Hi Ozroder, Im going to start the whole process again -
1. the first intial map i load into the ecm, i should have corrected the CLBS to around 700 as a starting point AND Leave them there for the whole v-tune process? does everyone agree?
Note: CLBS - Changing to a higher voltage makes the bike richer and lower leaner?
2. Ride to obtain enough good data (hits) - 2000 PLUS Area
- You stated Ozroder, look on the computer for engine knock, what exactly would i be looking for and how would you remove it?
Hey a really big thankyou to all......for your help with this- really appreciate it!
Okay, Re did the v-tunes and on my third run now........ and yes everyone was right "Not enough data!"
The bike goes really well now!!
Got a question about accel enrichment, i understand its to correct stutter between gears, but if you increase the values to far what will this do?
also decel enrichment, if you you decrease the values to far what will this do?
....................Can this affect out right power of the bike and the way it performs?
ps, Ozroder - still need to do a data run for you look over.
Hi Hilly, but what if you max out those values will this effect performance, i understand what your are saying.. but has anyone tested this??
ill give you an example, atm snaping on the throttle no hestitation, but would you think by increase these values extremely 'accel enrichment' would make the acceleration in even quicker by snaping on the throttle??
Also - I found 720clb to be the sweet spot for my 1200 xlc yee ha!!
Ozroder, my idle ranges from 980 to 1040 - sounds cool but i was wondering why its not stable at 1000 rpm where it has been set?
