    Screamin Eagle 120R Engine

Sys's Harley Davidson at Moorebank NSW has a new Blackline Softail which is fitted with a Screamin Eagle 120R engine which is just shy of 2000cc. only thing thats original on this engine now are the crankcases.

Their monthly newsletter stated that if you would like to ride this bike you could ring or email to book for a test ride, so I did :-)

Having riden and owned many japanese sports bikes for many years, now I have owned a couple of Harleys but never ridden a 120 cube Harley, I decided to book a test ride and see what all the fuss was as many guys install big bore kits and cams in their Harley's. I personally think this is over kill for a cruiser but each to their own, no offence intended.

Riding the bike was a nice experience,  but as this motor hadn't been run inn at the time of riding I wasn't able to really give the motor a big blast of power. It had buckets of torque which is what a Big Twin should have and will produce even if its in standard trim but not like this engine. It was surprising how easy this engine took of with very little throttle even though the rev limit was set to 3300rpm, even in 6th gear rolling on the throttle from 100ks it just leaped forward without any hesitation.. Power was very smooth I must say even though this is a big motor for a street bike, at idle the cams were very prominant with their lumpy sound which sounded tough. Would like to ride this bike at a later date when the motor has been run inn. So if you anyone would like to have a ride give Sys a phone call and check it out.

This bike is going to be riden by Will the mehanic at Sys and run at the Drag n Brag at Eastern Creek April 2011 which will be interesting to see what the potential of this engine could be on a race track where this engine should really be used.

Good on ya Rocky for havin a go!

Can't imagine though that with a rev limit of only 3300rpm you would have really experienced what it is capable of!

Wish I lived a little closer to Sydney .......(well, not really!) .........so I could test it out myself.

    Burto.

Thanks for the info/pics. Pitty about the rev limit. Seems a bit stupid, why didn't they run it in before the demo rides.
Sounds more like they just don't want people fucking up !
Just under $9000 from Sys (around $5k in the US), then you need Throttle body/injectors and pipes.

Found this over on 1130cc.com: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YREORczulr4&feature=player_embedded

The post says that the local dealer installed one of these in a fatboy lo and then proceeded to race it against a merch 131. They claim the fatboy won but if you watch it, the Vrod is out in front The 120R made it made 130.75hp and 127.7tq on the Dealers dyno

Saw the ad for it the other day, the bike is priced at just under $40k!!! As much as I love the look of the new blackline, $40k is insane!!

Price aside,  would be quite keen to get it out and see how she goes!!
