Hmm... Why do some of you cockheads think its funny when people try to educate themselves. Grow up knob Jockey!! What a wanker - fairdinkum!

So I didn't know about the line at the bottom of the oil tank.  Fuck me... it's my first HD and have not touched the engine due to warranty issues - so fuck off with your shit and try to be constructive - dickhead.

Thanks Bluey. Like I said mate. The bike is new, and so HD are looking after it for now. I have had no reason to drop the oil out of it yet.

I have the workshop manual waiting to go though - as soon as the 2 years clicks - I will look after it all. I have had bikes all my life, and wrenched all of them... but that does mean to say that I know how the guts of an HD works yet.

I didn't see the outlet on the bottom of the oil tank. Fuck, the bike is in the garage, and I am in the lounge room. :) I was under the impression the two pipes leading to the top of the oil tank were the in and the out.

I now know, that is not the case. :)

    Cheers

One is the return pipe and one is the breather pipe. TheReturn is the closest one the outside of the tank. The inlet pipe runs along the bottom of the oil tank. if you look under the bike at the frame on the R side you will see the drain tube. The idea of the puck is to drain all your oil from the tank. Remove the return pipe, put the tube on the pipe. Replace the filter with the puck, fill the tank and run the bike till clean oil comes out of the return pipe. Switch of the bike, return everything back to where it was with a new filter and Whala clean oil change.Still just as messy, although if you remove your plugs and turn the bike over in short spurts it will pump out most of the oil from the filter there by reducing the amount that spills when you remove the filter. Same for when you take the puck off. Running the starter motor for maybe 5-10 max at a time will not hurt. That way you will not starve the motor of oil when it runs. I bought the puck from the US for 60 bucks and used it once so far. The spark plug idea came from Hilly..... One thing when removing the return pipe from the tank. Be careful that you don't damage the o rings inside the tank. There is a little tool that you can pick up from Super cheap for air conditioning that helps remove the pipe with out damaging the o ring. Failure to use the tool may cause the o ring to be pushed into your oil tank if not careful when putting back your return line and then you might be in for a world of hurt.

    Thanks AJ. Great info.

I still have a year to wait - but definitely like the idea of getting all the old crap out.

Have ordered a puck/scavenger kit from rogue choppers--was browsing the workshop manual and couldnt find any mention of the extra oil left in the tank by the MoCo. .Makes good sense when you look at the crap left there after an oil change--cheers Grim

Red - Knowing how the oil actually gets in and out of the fucking oil tank has nothing to do with basics. I know how to change the oil. Not that you give a shit, but I have built complete engines!! In fact, totally rebuilt my last V-twin's donk, gearbox and final drive. Built my first engine when I was 14 - But that does not mean I know how the fuck everything works. Hence why I ask. Its dickheads like you that make people feel stupid for asking questions. Classic bully!

If it shits you that much - then don't read the thread and let the rest of us get on with it.

Mate - At the time I wrote the question the bike was in the garage, 30m from the house - so no - I didn't know about the routing of the oil. I presumed to the two inlets on the oil tank were it. Didn't know there was another, and I wasn't going out in the rain and cold to find out. So I asked here! FARKINELL - Shoot me mate! What more can I say.

Puck the fuck!  Works on the Evo but not on the Rocker. I'll have to change the crimped oil lines to clamps or whatever to run the dirty oil into waste.  That's the only way I can  think of. Rogue don't do a rocker kit. Any suggestions guru's?

Have a look at Yogi's bike in "bikes"  "Softail" then "The Rocker, and you'll see what I mean. The chrome pipes are "plugged into" the oil tank underneath the bottom part of the tank. Then come out, bend a bit and a couple of inches of braid and back to metal pipe and into the crankcase. Hope that makes sense Hilly.

My Scavenger turned up today but Rogue Choppers sent me an Evolution kit instead of the Twin Cam B kit that I ordered. :(

Have sent them an email, but it will certainly cost me to send it back. GRRR!!!

    Not happy JAN!!!
