Hello,
Ive been riding since 2010, bought my first Harley in Tamworth NSW. Its a 2000 model XLH1200, Concord Purple. She was very standard with 24,000 on the clock. I ride with my husband that ive been with for 9yrs, he had a 91 Softail Custom but now rides a 2010 FXST. Lucky for me he works on bikes and we keep our bikes regularily serviced at a decent price!
I didnt mind sitting on the back of his bike, but theres something about riding, and customizing your own ride that makes it way more satisfying for me. At first it was daunting riding the bike around thinking i was going to drop it at the lights or conk it out riding around town, but once i got a feel of the bike it just got so much easier. I can even ride my husbands bike with 18" apes. A trip through the putty road in NSW helped fix that!
Ive changed just about everything on the bike. Heres a before and after pic:
14" bars, Vance and Hines straight shots etc.
This bike is one of a kind, I never thought id spend so much time and money making it the way it is now but it is just what I wanted.
This is her when I first bought it. Enough chrome on it to keep any girl happy, youd think! First thing I took off it was the straight bars. My arms were killing me.
UPDATE:
This is her now!
Everything has been done in our garage except for the paint job, Kandy Pavo Purple with silver undercoat and ghost flames. I wont go into too much detail but I will point out that I fitted a custom wide front end with tribal tripple trees with a 3 degree rake, 14" bars, 4 Gal stretch tank, a mini speedo (removed the bulky one)....enjoy the pics.
I fit a custom solo backrest to the Mustang seat. If I knew id need one I would have bought a Mustang seat with the backrest but to save money I used the original sissy backrest and made a bracket to fit the riders seat underneath. Its also removable so I can re-attach it to the rear one. This cost me a total of $2 to make believe it or not haha! Sure beats $400 for a new seat! Made with plain flat bar 6mm X 20mm screwed to the bottom of the seat and welded two lips on the sides for the screws.
This is me, as you can see I like pulling things apart ha! The washing machine suffered this time but at least I got my 50c out! That'll teach it to go through my pockets. Thanks for checking out my ride.
Keep your knees in the breeze!

I totally agree we need more lady riders. Its not all that fun being the only one in our group, It feels like im imposing on them, not on the road but when we stop at the pub or go to an event.
Anyway thanx for the replies and ill catch up with ya'll in the forums!
