thanks hogbagger but do the e3's come in the shitty sizes for 09 ! been doing alot and i meen alot of looking into the darkside "car tyre"and have found no negatives with it yet , just piisses me off that most of our riding is str8 up anyways and the centre of bike tyre always wears out way before the sides even come close ! but im talking about rides that are 12000 to 16000 klms at a time !! and fully loaded as in 600kgs of weight ! eeeek ... lol intrested to see if anyone else is doing it or not yet ?

i hear ya hb the oem dunlops d408 n d407 last about 16k of hard travelling but we do long rides on some shitty roads and would preffer not to have to worry about having a tyre shot before we get where we going as in outback middle of nowhere that dont sell bike tyres etc lol our next trip is out west thru winton longreach barcy etc and all around the west of queensland . possible on some bad roads .just looking atm anywayz :)

I am running Metzlers, a 200 on the back. They are radials. It has raised the bike, which I like, but she gets the wobbles more. Cant figure out why.

I am thinking D408s next time.

Don't be put-off by the nay sayers about going darkside mate. I ran all 3 of my Triumph Rocket 111's with a 245 wide car tyre (run flat) and they handle fine WHEN YOU GET USED TO THEM.

My wife and I also rode our Goldwing around Australia, towing a trailer, with 1 rear run flat car tyre fitted. Still looked new by the end of the trip.

The problem you will face is getting a car tyre that will not rub on your belt. There are web sites dedicated to running darkside for more info.

Plenty of grip on offer, including in the wet. Far superior braking on the rear as well. And if you decide to go darkside, you can use a run flat rear which you could ride aound Aus on with a puncture. Trust me, i checked the pressure on the rear of the leadwing and discovered it was empty at one stage of our trip.

You do have to run them at lower pressures,

    Regards Lofty
