Hey guys help refresh my memory was it around 1990 that Harley had problems with the case bearing ???

Wasn't there a kit you could buy to replace this, from memory a bit of welding and machining ???

hi,  the L/H side main bearing case insert ( as is casted into the case ) can come loose  as the differant expansion rate between the 2 metal's , you can warn up the case around the boss,   with the stator off, then blow light air pressure into the case, , spray wd40 around the boss & look for any air bubble's between the aluminium & the steel insert case race, you can have this repaired, but it.s a full motor rebuild ,                                                   in 1994 they did away with the case race  & the main bearing fit's into the aluminium case directly,                                                                                 in 1992 they changed the cam bearing to a INA brand,   & this should be changed  back too the earlier torrington type ,  brand
