they say to understand anything you have to experience it ,unfortunately today that came true , not in a good way!!!!  recieved a letter for a vehicle test notice from the EPA . fuck me talk about guilty before proving inocence , your at the mercy of some fucker that thinks you might have a loud exhaust , and you have to pay the pricks 40.00 to prove that you havn't , what happened to our so called democratic society,   now i've got to wast a day going to a testing station just to give our glorious leaders a donation , FUCKEM , 

That is a fucking arsehole law. Typical though of parasitic politicians just looking to gouge more money out of the general public.

 

That's crook; shouldn't havta pay for the test. A malicious prick could complain and cause problems for anyone in their street.

The EPA sent us a fine (the Shopping Centre where I work) on the basis of a complaint from a local resident. He claims we have a leaf blower making noise at 0200hrs Mon to Fri. I assured the EPA our Cleaners don't even arrive until 0330hrs but they replied, "I'm sorry, but he's made the complaint on a stat dec and the fine is in motion!"

"And if I sign a stat dec to say we don't work at 0200hrs does that counter the argument?" (no it doesn't)

It took some time but we eventually proved the leaf blower belonged to someone else and not us. My point? The EPA will issue a fine on the basis of a complaint from an anonymous person! The EPA didn't hear or investigate the noise whatsoever.

The fine was issued on a residents say so.

Crap ay?! The fine was $700 or so dollars and we had to prove it wasn't us. How's that for bullshit?

Good luck with yours but I'd seek some (free) legal advice as to whether or not you need pay for that test.

Its fucked , a few guys I know have been given EPA notices , and got to take time of work to get pipes changed over and tested , ITs just money grabing arsholes

I have had the same shit happen to me also.

I got a letter in the mail from the EPA after some cop complained my pipes were too loud. Can't remember how much it cost for the noise test but it did waste half a day getting the test done. Bastards.

Does the EPA fine semi-trailers for their engine brakes, exhaust or loud road noise with empty loads? Do they fine Garbage trucks for loud operation of their bin lift? Or the breaking glass in the back of the truck when they do the recyclables? Do they fine the city buses, they are loud f**kers. What about the News helicopters buzzing around all the time? They should fine the emergency vehicles for their sirens too, they're loud. Take their noise machine to the airport and fine passanger jets as they take off and land. God forbid mr whippy the icecream truck rolls past an EPA prick. What the f**k is wrong with this world?

I for one are backing Chimney.  As much as the French are arrogant, pretenscious wankers, they say what is right and when they Prime Minister recently told the Muslums to fuck off, I for one cheered until I cried.  Heres to hopin Pauline Hanson gets in so there can be a variety of opinions expressed in our county.  Not just the ones from do gooding soft cocks who only speak a language that gets populous votes.

Son got done around xmas. Ambushed by cop who turned corner then waited for him.Cop said he "heard you backing off". Cop took photo of exhaust (wonder if he got the e stamp in the photo) and said he would sent to epa for opinion. Son said no problems, as he was not worried, but told cop all mail was to go to my place as he was going O/S. Cop said no problem. weeks later got  bulk mailing of mail from his old address on the monday, inside was a letter from epa saying he had to get compliance certificate by the prev friday. Rang  EPA and explained situation. lady on other end very reasonable.They said cop had no right to say mail would come to my place, as they sent to VICROADS registered address. Son had changed address between being ambushed and epa notice. Anyway, they gave me till the following Friday (4 days) to get it done. Problem, son is back and 100 km away. They say no problem, take bike in where he is. problem he and bike 100 km apart ( bike still at my place),  he wont be home till weekend ( because of  work I cant get bike in). Testing only 8-5 m-f. they say they can only give one extension by phone, send email ask for longer.

Son takes bike in, passes no problems without changing a thing, guy doing the testing said copper obviously does not know what he is doing as cat. conv. etc unchanged, but still took the money. ( I could make a very cynical comment here) Apparently an e stamp means jack, you are guilty until you prove your innocence. This exhaust is no louder than standard, except has a deeper note ( did some of my own testing before son took it in, no good for total db, but ok for comparison).

Any way, all good now, except half day off work and $40 lighter. Wonder if he gets pinged again if he can present certificate or has to be tested again, and pay again.
