    JUST BOUGHT MESELF A 1988 SOFTAIL.

     

    TRYING TO START THE BADBOY, WONT KICK THEN AS IM TRYING TO GIVE IT GAS WHILST CLICKING IT OVER IT GRINDS AND CRUNCHES AND DOESNT WANT TO KICK OVER. THIS IS ALSO WHEN IT IS ON JUMPER LEADS SO DOUBT IT IS BATTERY.  HOW MUCH DOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS COST TO FIX AND WHAT COULD IT BE. THANKYOU

    does the crunching noise coming when giving the bike gas sound like a starter drive gear failure... very costly to repair?

    Try a new battery. JMO... I'm wrong most of the time, but it would be nice if I was right.... just once.

    There might be a problem with the battery.useing jumper leads wont help if the battery is kaput.check voltage when cranking should stay around10-12 volts.
