    Hey Guys,

I'm new to riding, still not allowed to ride legally, i'm 16. I've rode a bike many times and loved the feel to it, although i've always loved the big harley cruisers. Just wondering if you vetrens could help me out in a little situation?

1). What bike is a good learning bike until i turn 18, not expensive, mainly just to get my confidence up

2). What cruiser bike is a good and cheap bike for a first bike once i'm 18

If you guys could help me out, it'd be really appreciated.

    Cheers

G'Day there tupou, welcome to the forum.

First up I reckon that you'de be best off going out and grabbing a 250/400 chook chaser and learn how to flog the crap out of it in the bush.

Build your riding skills in the dirt and off the road, trust me, it will pay off some.

Not sure what the licensing deal is where you're at but same road trail 250 to do your learners and the probationary period on.

Don't worry that much about what bike to get when you're 18 right now as you'll see plenty that will change your mind between now and then, and you'll spend more than you should on bike mags just gorking.

(but,,, keep an eye on any of the Sportsters, they would do you well for the first stint to get your big license and get some experience on the road cruiser style)

Get to know your bike so you don't have to think about what ya have to do,,,become part of it,,, cause on the road ya need all ya wits to try figure what everyone else is gunna do.

All the best Matey, hope it all goes well for ya.

For something a bit more original you could always check out Deus Ex. More of a cafe racer style but they have some 400cc models which might be learner legal. Not sure if they're that cheap though.

Here is a full list of learner approved bikes from the NSW RTA site. I'm not sure where you're from but might give you a good idea of your options. Looks like you could get an older triumph or something, even has a 1974 HD Sportster
