Sold my 250 on Bikesales before picking up the Harley. For a flat selling fee you can make as many changes to your ad over time and in the end I got a fair price. Of the 4-5 enquiries I had, only two were genuine.

Remember, the scammers are looking for anything they can do to rip off your identity. So insist any email enquiry you get; they call you to discuss the sale rather than dealing via email - AND - take out anything from your email signature you don't want them to know about before responding.

It's hard to remember to check things like that when you think you have a sale - so just take your time and read through their email and your response carefully before replying.

Bikesales did have a link to a PayPal scam in some of their material. Read it and don't deal with anyone who won't call you.

i currently have a scooter on bikesales, first 5 enquiries were spam, pretty easy to detect morons though, only 1 genuine so far, othwerwise it seems a pretty good site, except, unlike carsales.com, you dont get any stats on your ad so have no idea how many people are viewing the ad, cheerioo.

Sold the last bike I had on the Sunshine Coast Daily... Sold in a week. You should get a sale if your price is realistic. All the best with it.

I sold my  last 09 on bikesales and bought my latest bike there,   No problems  but i think it pays to be careful as in any deal   I met the buyer only after we spoke on the phone and we met at my work place. Got his licence before he went for a ride. All good no hassles and made sure money cleared my account before handover.  When buying i bought off there but through a  indy, Photos description talk with sales guy all good,  Bike freighted to me and no probs at all.  There was a scam going on there with fake enquiries offering to buy  but couldnt look because worked on a oil rig or in mines etc so send to a shipping agent  ,, Totally fake and just after account details but the people running the site were onto it pretty well

i have had success with ebay but i think most expect a bargain from there , caresales, bikesales, are the way to go, my son just bought a car from carsales, it was listed that morning , we bought it that night and the guy was ringing us nearly every hour making sure we wanted it because his phone was ringing as it was a bargain , as with anything you have to be keenly priced to get the calls, i've had a very good dyna that i consider very keenly priced on there for near 6 months now with only 2 genuine calls, so needless to say i'm still paying rego on it and dropping the price monthly to try and move it, make sure you list your add with "only phone enquiries will be answered", usually stops the scammers dead
