I'm thinking about building a old school bobber but with EFI.  I hate carbies. Starting with an older bike and setting it up from scratch.

Has any one done this before? What ECU and loom did they use? Aftermarket or doner bike?

I have converted old holdens the EFI. Wired the car from scratch. Bike shouldn't be to hard. Could maybe even use a fuel only car efi unit like a microtech.

     Any Idea's?

A PSI Big Air carby would be a lot less hassle....

Your probaly  right wayne. But I ride to work all year round, all weather conditions, I need turn key reliability and I can tune efi for that. To make good grunt and keeping reliability with a carb is a black art to me.  And the other thing is I'm wanting to do thing different, that just me.

Nothing worse than a itch you can't scratch. Ive been wanting to build a bobber of sorts for a long time. Had a heap of different idea's, but no money to do it. You know how it goes.

Well I got an offer from my wife I couldn't refuse.

She has been wanting a bike for a while, but not very interested in harleys. It's hard to get a bike for a 5'4' female. She took my sporty low out on the weekend for the first time for a small ride with some girlfriends. When she got back she told me she now wants a sporty low. We are redoing the mortgage, we will just add it on she say's. After looking around fo've r a week she decide that she wants mine a I should buy a new one. I liking the sound of this.
I ring around. Have a chat with Colin at harley heaven. And bang a deal is done. 2011 red/black Nightster.

Wife happy, I'm F@#ken happy. Not exactly a old school bobber, but hey, I've got a few idea's.
Going to be a long couple of weeks untill the money comes through.

So officially I'm not converting anything now.  No for for a while anyway. Have to pay off some of the canvas before I paint the picture.

Bertie your not old enough for the old school m8 you miss the boat .

there is nothing wrong with the CV carb or any carb for that matter were is the problem?

my mate has my old Shovel stroker, it was kick start only, he had a problem kick starting sometimes so put a rivera 6 speed with 3" open belt conversion that has hi torque starter now you would not know it was carb. just touch the hidden starter button and she bursts into life. has an s&s G carb simple enough, all EFI is good for is passing emmission laws Australias quickest and fastest Harleys don't use EFI.

Krash your right on all counts except one, the quickest, top fuel bike are fuel injected .  But I have done carb's on a lot of dirt bikes (not quite the same I know) and on car's. About 10 year age I did an aftermarket convert on a HR hot 6 cylinder and made it sing, I have been hooked since. You can have a big camed heavy hitting engine and give it good manners on the street with one map, and have it punch on the track. Each to their own.
