gday my name is jim, i live in nsw im in the process of getting bike licance and buying my 1st harley it will be a 2008 883 custom sportster which is only a few months away. i can not wait.i have all ways wanted a harley since i was about 15,16 years on i have decieded to get one took me a while. hope to learn more about the sportsters on this forum

Welcome to the forum Jim. That's great stuff. I've had my Sporty foru about 3 months now and love it. I bougt an 07 883 standard. What are the rules in NSW regarding what bike you can ride?

I know here in SA you technically have to wait 1 year until you can ride a "big" bike. I get off my restriction in November but couldn't wait so I bought the sporty anyway.

gday here in nsw if u r over 30yrs old n have had your licance for a few yrs u can have your l plates for 3 months then do a riding test then go on to your full licance. if u r under 30 i think u have to have your L's for 12months then go on to your red p,s then your green p's. we are limited to a 660cc motor untill u have your full licance. i have a month to go before i can get my full licance hanging out for that

 

That's good to know.  In SA everyone is restricted to a 660 until you get off the restriction in 12 months, regardless of how old you are but good thing is in SA if you're off you P's with your car license you don't have to wear P's on your bike.  I thought that was good.
