What size jet for 883/1200?

I want to get some opinions on what main jet I should be using in the Sporty?

After doing the 883/1200 conversion the bike has been running great but I've  noticed it's fouling the plugs pretty quickly.  It conked out the other day and I swapped the plugs over and now it's running great again.  But I've noticed that they are still going black pretty quick.  A while back I installed a 180 main jet in the carb, I'm just wondering if I should try to lean out the mix with this jet or go to a 170 or 175?

Has anyone else got an 883/1200 carbed bike, if so what jet are you running?

I've been reading about this issue and have read it could also be the ignition curve, so I'm trying to get my hands on a 1200 ignition module to see if that makes any difference.

KC, I would be looking more at the pilot jet and needle. I take it that it's a 40mm CV ?
A 180 shouldn't be far enough off to cause fouling, as it's main effect is from 3/4 throttle up.
Where is your mixture screw set at ?
Know anyone with a wideband O2 meter you can borrow ?
    Cheers

     Speedzter,

The mixture screw is currently set at 2.5 turns.  It was set at 3 so I reduced it .5 tuns to try it out.  Haven't ridden the bike enough to test whether it's made much of a difference.

Don't know anyone with a meter I'm affraid but I've booked the bike in to get looked at next Wednesday in any case.  I'm sure they will sort it out.

Kingchops, what pilot jet are you useing?

Something else i've found to get them to run nice & get good economy, is to us a Bobby Woods K1 needle, these needles are not tappered but stepped, the 180 main should be fine i would not go leaner than 175 main jet& pilot jest should be 45 to 46.

try a 180 main & 46 slow...   also open up the ventury hole in the slide by drilling it out with a 1/8" bit...

& while your in there you can reduce / cut the slide spring by a inch...     & maybe lift your needle a notch...

those mods will give you better throttle responce
