Electronic Throttle

While riding on a straight road with the cruise control on, the electronic sensor for the throttle perhaps overheated and it felt like, if I had cables, the cable had snapped..  It has been in the service dept for 2 weeks and they could not find any fault when doing the engine diagnostic.  I have now got the bike back with no work done on it other than the diagnostic stuff.  Has anyone else had this problem?  What caused it?  Has it been able to be fixed?  As the bike is still under warranty, I am worried that it might not be covered if it happens again at some stage down the track.  I believe it is the throttle twist grip sensor that may have overheated.  The bike is a 2009 model Road King.
