Can someone in the West tell me the best insurance companies to check?  I will take possession of my first HD [trike] in May, and don't know where to start

try swan insurance. was the cheapest for me.

i just got my insurance through Shannons , was real cheap for fully comp and get $4500 coverage for you and pinion for your helmet and gear

Yep Shannons for me QBE where $200 more expensive and no choice of repairer, shannons give chioce of repairer and if bike is written off you get to keep the wreak and they covvered riding gear.
