After owning a 85 softail since new just got a 2010 wide gluide it was ex demo with 100 ks and is fitted with vance & hines twin pipes its coming up for its first service and want to fit better air cleaner and I am told it will need tune to do this being totally ignorant to these fuel injected models can someone give me a rundown on what needs to be done and a bit of idea on costs I have always done my owen work on softy and all my bikes up till now but this will probaly end up at gold coast harley or your recomeedations Thanks
If you like to do things yourself, not be dependent on a shop or others, and are comfortable around a computer, then look at the TTS tuning kit for your tool box. $400-$500. There are less expensive ways to make power or adapt to your mods, but the TTS tuning kit can get you a nicely drivable machine and probably within 1-2 HP of a pro tune. There are more expensive tuners, some do as good a job, but primarily you are paying for automated tuning and adapting to engine mods. Nothing wrong with that, but you may find you end up tinkering anyway. You also have the option of hiring a pro to tune the bike.
Not one tuner fits everyone's idea of the best.
