Hi skin,
??????
Hi Poddy,
Thanks for your advice.
Man, hasn't this thread taken on a life of it's own?! I've only just stumbled on it and read all three pages in one go. So getting back to your original question I'd suggest step #1 is to get THREE repair quotes and then do your number crunching from there.
What did you pay - $23K I think; let's assume that's the best your gonna get for it in the repaired state. If the repair costs say $5K (for example) then $18K would be the absolute best you're likely to get in the un-repaired state; ya follow?
But, it's a crashed bike and any Buyer would like to think he/ she's gonna get a bargain. Perhaps set yourself a reserve figure of $15K and stick to it. Advertise at $18K and come down as far as $15K. Either way it's gonna lose you money.
If it was me I'd probably get it repaired and then put it in a Bike Shop on consignment; that way you agree on a reserve price with the Shop and they (the Professional salespersons) talk the talk with potential Buyers.
And being as we're all passing comment on whether or not this is an accident, my two cents says both parties were f*ckwits on the day. It was a hard lesson for your fella to learn, what with spittin' teeth and now scared of motorcycles and all...
You sound like a loyal sorta Lady so good luck with this. I hope he appreciates ya!
To all of those who were 'UNKIND' good luck to you all !! you will need it !!!!
