    hi all,

does anyone know of any options for relocating a stock superglide speedo ( its part of the bar clamp) so i can install a set of drag bars? just a bit worried bout the domininant speedo atop  drag bars will stick out like dogs balls. burleigh make special bars to cater for this but havnt seen them on a bike yet (also cant gethold of burleigh?? always 'disconnected???). anyone have pics or ideas?

    any advice greatly appreciated!!

Hi Gringo .. don't know if this is the sort of think you mean... but seems to be ? I've made a support bracket for the speedo. I have some drawings somewhere I can try to find, if your interested ... which I've drawn up as a guide..

I've also used the Genuine Chrome speedo bracket to house the speedo .. which replaced the crinkle black alloy one..

I made a bit of a design... and cut it out of a bit of cardboard folded it.. and adjusted as need be.. stuffed up the fold a bit.. but worked ok... I got a piece of 2mm thick stainless from Bunnings ... it was a small stainless plaque used to indicate 'bore water in use' or similar.. it was the perfect size for my needs.. I think there in virtually every store, it's a malleable stainless plate .. so will bend easy.

I mounted my speedo and oil pressure guage of the side of the rocker box just behind the air cleaner.

I got it from J&P in the states #740-951

Check out top of page 2 in show us your bike.

I made this setup from stainless exhaust tube, but have since removed it as I wasn't happy with the look (and missed my Tacho !):

Hey gringo the speedo does what a speedo does.

I had all the warning lights custom mounted in the roller bar that Burliegh Bars made for me.

The triple tree was made by A1 cycle engineering.

Like all mods, I suppose it comes down to $$.

thamks for all the replies. noodle just had a couple of questions, firstly how thick are your bars and is that speedo housing genuine because i cant find it on the hd site? also i think i will try and make your bracket so if you would be so kind can u post the measurements? i am lucky enough to work around some gun tradies so making it should be easy (i'l get them to do it, carton crane hire job!) thanks again for your input mate

the bars are 44 mm thick .. from Burleigh Bars .. the speedo kit is 'Chrome Speedometer Bracket Kit" 67293-95  (Genuine Harley) chrome could be better .. but wipe your bike down often with a sheep .. Lanox or something..

Give Mick an email.. he's really quick with replying.. I think he sleeps with his Blackberry ... he's in Columbus Ohio .. I recently got a reuseable oil filter from him.. and he's been able to pack it for me for shipping and went out of his way to get me a good price saved heaps on shipping.. on one item.. and he's really good for replies personal service.. or order from your local stealer..

one more thing the hd site says the bracket kit only fits 95-04 single speedo's. since it fits your 08 should i assume it will fit my 06?

i ask more questions than a cop for fuks sake!

    geez.........

lol mate.. I remember asking the same question .. when I got the housing .. double check with Mick .. he's good with running around for his customers, and I'm looking at my parts book right now.. and it was a perfect fit for the 08 .. so I can only presume it would be ok for the 06 as well.. and if your talking to Mick tell him to hurry up with his web site.. he's nearly finished it I think.

The housing comes in two models.. bikes with tacho & Speedo .. or just the single housing...

Let's see how you go from there gringo .. anyway happy Auss day ..

Yeah .. ok was checking further.. on the 2006 model Dyna .. seems they sell this "Bling Thing" for the same item where discussing.. but can't find the specific housing in question dedicated to your model.. the housing is in the MULTIFIT section of my parts book...

The main reason they wouldn't stipulate fitment I guess.. is due to it being a none specific 'Multifit' and the bolt holes would not align to anything on your bike.. unless.. making or designing your own bracket.. which I went about making out of a bit of Stainless.

.. anyway for what it's worth.. a picture of the 'Bling Thing'.. not my cup'O'Tea .. but there showing it as 'Model specific' lol ... and the housing is EXACTLY same as I have housing my speedometer... with recesses for the indicator arrows, oil, neutral, etc... just to add to the confusion...
