Can anyone tell me what the metal plate (3cm by 1cm) with 2 holes in it is for? The plates sits below the rear left indicator on my 2010 Wide Glide.
And, any suggestions on the best way to use this as a helmet lock?

According to the 2011 HD genuine parts & accessories book, the HD helmet lock fits onto the frame tube. So, couldt be for a side mounted number plate?, or do they mount onto the axle?
