Did a 4 day 1900km ride with a couple of mates a few days ago. On the first leg to Eden, NSW about 5 mins out of town one of the bikes ran out of fuel going up a steep hill. If we would have been on the flat I reckon he would have made it. I rode into town and stopped at the Shell servo, topped up and told the owner about the problem.
Good bloke-- didn't try to sell me a new tin fuel can (had a half dozen of them on the shelf) or ask for a deposit on his own can, but instead went around back and got a plastic 5L tranny oil container, rinsed it out with a small amount of fresh fuel and I put about 3L in it and paid.
When we all got into town the other two topped up there and I told him I would post on the board about how he helped us. If you are going thru Eden and need fuel give your business to the Shell servo and tell him you read about it on the board.
PS -- I asked him to be sure to take the pish out of the bloke who ran dry when we went back in to top up....he did-- priceless!
