Hi guys, hope you can help here. I have a 2008 CVO Softail Spinger (110 cu in motor) and I have just done a bit of work on my bike, MVA CNC ported heads, 10.5:1 pistons, SE258 cam, 58mm manafold and throttle body, 4.9 gm/sec injectors and 2:2 drag pipes, SE heavy breather. Plus a few other things such as roller rockers, lift limiting followers and adjustable push rods.

Everthing seems to run ok, no leaks no unusual noises, compression is ok, but I am only developing 75 odd HP should be around 120HP plus. It has been dyno and AFR etc. checked but no power. Had a ThunderMax runing it but went back to a Harley ECU as I couldnt get a ThunderMax Chart anywhere near te set-up I have now got and I couldnt get the ThunderMax to run right.

This has got me stumped and the local Harley dealer also, can anyone help?

Ok I will need some enlighting here. Is a compression leak down test the same as a compression test? I have done a compression test and it is ok exactly the same on both cylinders, 135-140 psi possibly a little down but considering its not quite run in yet I think that is good. Haven't tried the checking power when cold against when it is hot and didnt think about wet sumping. But would wet sumping account for 50 odd HP? sounds like a lot to lose just because of some oil being thrown around the crank case.

I will check it out and see what I come up with. Thanks for the advice hope it works.

Thanks for the reply. I did contact Zippers and they recomended a map which was way off but the closest they had. They also gave me a procedure to follow which was different to what they tell you to do when you initiate and then run the idle tuning. Did what they told me to and did two read write off-sets proceedures and some rides but didnt help much ran a little better but still like a dog, way too rich and no power. Hence why I when back to the Harley ECU and Super Tune With Smart Tune tuning software and VCI. Would have liked to have stayed with the ThunderMax been happy up to now. When I was at Sturgis last year caught up with the Harley Technical people there they told me they had a map for the set-up I was thinking of, another reason for going back to Harley ECU. Well its been at the Hareley dealer on thier Dyno for two days now and no map for my set-up and  besides telling me what I already knew and screwing up the adjustment on my adjustable push rods they have got no where.

Thanks for the feed back and suggestion.

Thanks guys all of you, Harley Davidson Sydney and USA dont seem to concerned about the low compression as long as its the same in both cylinders and Fraser's in Perth are absolutely no use, useless as tits on a bull think they know it all wont even listen to the USA on the map recommendation. Ignored basic map selection principles etc. and loaded in the bses standard CVO map. It ran so much better when I dropped it off than when I got it back, in fact it was unrideable when i got ot back so how they could make the conclusions on HP etc is totally beyond me.

Anyways I have worked out a plan of attack. I am going to strip it all down again and check everything, not that I think I did anything wrong done heaps of motors in my time, but hey there is always a first time and its going to give me peace of mind. While I have it in bits going to install a SE266, which will give me a standard ECM map to load in and a few more HP there is never enogh is there, should have done this in the first place instead of trying to re-use the cam I had, not that it could not have been used but there is no suitable map that matches with this cam.

I will check back in in a week after I have done the work, providing I get the gaskets I ordered early next week and report on the findings. Bu the way i am also going to fit a Super Trapp 2:1 tuneable exhust, which I had orderedlast week. So fingers crossed until next week.
