G'day all,
I had the bike up on my J B bike lift today and was checking the front wheel conical bearings and shock funkin horror they sounded terrible. So I removed the wheel and pulled the dust seals and found the bearing and cone on the brake side had rusted and was fucked, shit I have only been on the old puter lately checking out bearing cone removing and installing tools. By the looks of the way the cones are in-place you really need this tool unlike normal car trailer and truck trailer cones that you can use just a large knock-com-meter and drift.
So i was just wondering is there a conversion kit to fit sealed bearings and if so does the hub to be milled or will a 2000 model wheel fit using the wheel spacers that I have or are they a different length.
STINGA they are just cup and cone nock out easy long punch big hammer back the same way,i use timken bearings from the trailer shop, never checked on sealed bearings for the road king,
G'day,
Thanks you blokes for your replies,
Charlie, there is no room or way to be able to use a long punch, as blueystar said " mate get the tools it makes life easer ".
Bangkok bob, Yep mate told me the same but not just commodore I think they go back even further say about EH / HR era.
Blueystar, The rim has a reasonably bad flat spot so I might take it to Spoked Wheel Services at the bottom of the hill and get an Excel rim and S/S spokes and new bearing done.
Has anyone had anything to do with Spoked Wheel Services ? is there anyone else in Perth that can build a good spoked wheel?
