Mate of mine in Wisconsin has been in the paint business for a long time and is waiting for a new machine to arrive from japan that will do what they are doing in the below video. He said he will be the first in the state with this and that it has really taken off down in Las Vegas and other areas of the south. Apparently it is the same process by which they coat the Golden Globes and all those Hollywood awards. He said that it will be 1/3 the cost of actual plating and some are saying are likely to actually replace plating over time due to the high quality and lower cost that it provides. The process maintains the look of actual chrome (unlike paint) and is much more durable than paint. I volunteered some of my parts that he is going to use as some test subjects when he gets the machine in.
Video is long but interesting for us folks that have had a bad time with shitty Re- Chroming jobs and the huge cost involved.
it would be interesting to see fat boy wheels done and the cost payed $1250 to have mine chrome plated
It's been around for years, Some guys call it Fanta Chrome. It's a 3 part Water Base prosess, There was a guy in WA a few years ago Selling Francies and the equipment. There was also a Powder Coating Company in Dandenong that was doing it
