Hey, as mentioned somewhere else in this here forum the trouble and strife has given the green light for me to buy a new bike.
When I say new I was thinking second hand but something with relaitvely low K's specifically looking for a Road King and am looking to pay approx $28K however I've been thinking I might be able to stretch the budget and get something new'ish.
My question is which time of the year do the new models come out so that one can take advantage of the previous models stock? Does it happen the same time every year? What price would you expect to pay for a previous model RK? Hoping of course they have some left which is the gamble but I'm in no rush as I'm enjoying my Dyna and will probably keep it as well.
You might try what I did... Went in and found out exactly when the major shipment was arriving and then made an offer one week before that date as they were pretty keen to make room on the showroom floor... As a result I got $4,000.00 off new bike and a few goodies thrown in without too much effort... Worked for me... Good luck... Sump...
Last June Peter Stevens were for a little while putting out Road Kings in Adelaide for 27, 500 and throwing in insurance , , It was only till they got rid of a few in stock , can't quite remember if they were 09 models though.
Got a feeling they may well be doing the same again this year , I've been calling in to buy shit now and then and keep my eye on certain bikes , notice they still tend to be there . The salesmen there are pretty good guys , I've jokingly told them that the blue one they have will be sat in my garage for not much more than cost , if its still there in July , whats the option they have to sell them cheaper or ship em back for spare parts .
The markets dying , theres more competition , i think they have fianally got to the stage where they have outpriced themselves , its took a while , but i think its happening, think about it RK on road approx 32,000, plus backrest so the missis don't fall off, pipes so it breaths and runs ok , another couple grand ,insurance its nearly 35,000 before you start to personalise it.
LOT OF MONEY
Bunderberg has been sold to Kinaroy harley,Oliver has gone to Perth and opened up a new shop and took Helen with him so i am told so look out Frasers so might be some good deals going.
just bought an 09 Road King,5000k's,smooth rims, quick release rack and sissy bar,24.5000 dollars,it needed reg and when i got it home the chrome was peeling of the spotlight support bar which was another $180,but still a good price all up,only problem i am having is info on changing the bars to Heritage bars, seems ABS is a problem, anyway the point is there are some good bargains out there at the moment, prices being bought down by the imports.
standard RK bars, gives me an ache in the shoulders, need to bring it back a few inches, had 12 inch apes on my Heritage, worked a treat but with FBW and abs not sure of whats available, they say stock Heritage bars work but have to grind a notch in the end for FBW,abs .seems to be a problem going by the Harley book. The wiring is easy to join up but just trying to get all the facts before ripping into it and finding a problem later.
