For a new bike, I would change oil and filter at 500kms.... then 1000kms..... then 1600km as per first service.

If its not a new bike then I would at least be changing oil every 6 months even if you only put 500kms on it in that time. Oil degrades over time.

My rule is every 6 months or every 3000k's, 5000k's at the most, what ever comes first, only because thats what ive been told by a few very experienced ppl, but my bike is oldish so dont know if that makes a difference.

I got my early 2007 softail with only 6500 a few months ago. The previous owner did a few big trips (philip Island) and very few local runs. Their loss is our gain. Low KM good price, immaculate condition. Trying had to rectify his shortfall.

Regards  Russ ( won't use RT again as Road Train has that one, sorry RT).

Hmmmmm, try selling a 2007 bike with 35000km, you'll be treated like it's got the plague.

My 09 has over 70,000 km on it, not game to go to the dealers and ask for a trade price, they will offer bugga all for it so I will just keep riding it and whenit gives up the ghost rebuild it.
