NSW Police on Harley Davidson

Well I could'nt believe my eyes. First day back after ten days off, driving down Picton Rd, early this morning, I swore I saw a cop on a Harley. I just saw him at the last moment, but the muffled sound of the big V Twin gave it away!! So this afternoon, I'm heading down the Hume Hwy towards Pheasants Nest,  low and behold, a copper on a Harley's booking someone. I waited about a kilometre down the road cause I wanted a couple of photos, so he pulls up behind me and asks if everything is OK. I gotta say, he was a great bloke, very proud of his new ride, and was more than happy to chat, and for me to take photos. He said people were wanting to talk to him all the time about the bike, and even though it was'nt as quick as his Yamaha R1, (really), he said it was certainly very comfortable, and had heaps of torque. NSW are trialling them, probably moreso for "parade work" than clocking up the miles on the freeway. Sorry about the quality of the photos,

I think the Canberra cops are now using them as well, like you mentioned I understand it's partially for parades and motorcades.

It wouldnt be the first Harley NSW Police have procurred

I'm sure there are a few undercover cops running around on some sort of Softail or Vrod as their daily ride.

Ever noticed the high powered sports cars at the Govt auctions (without rego plates)
Reason for no rego plates - not to confuse New owners with previous assignment.

Bike cops are everywhere up here ( Taree/ Forster ) at the moment, Got pulled up in the truck yesterday for RBT ,7 bikes and one was a Harley , actually the copper wasnt to bad a bloke as far as cops go, better than the bloke who pulled my boss up the day before, re-registered the truck the day before but hadnt changed rego labels............$536  pricks.

I enjoyed that 'You Tube' vid - thanks Blackey. Interesting to see the Victory outshine the Harley in a few areas but I s'pose that's hardly earth shattering news. Harley don't claim to do everything better than all other makers, yet all other makers use Harley-Davidson as the benchmark or gauge by which their bikes are judged.

It's a bit like musos who claim 'more album sales than the Beatles' or 'more popular than Elvis' or whoever... point is the legend (Harley in this case) remains the benchmark by which all others are judged. A Harley is a Harley and Victorys wish they were. They're just the latest kid on the block chasing the title - Dream on!

Not really a fan of Victory styling but the Victory in full Police livery is the nicest example I've seen.

The fine must have dropped for the rego label. Five years ago i hadnt been back to the yard for a few weeks (running brisbane-adelaide-sydney triangle) therefore hadnt put new labels on trailers. The RTA checked on there computer that the trailers were registered but still fined me not the owner $900.
