need to boycott all of them

A retail coalition including Myer, David Jones, Harvey Norman and Borders has vowed to continue its bid for a fairer playing field despite the backlash.

The mealy mouthed cunt is back tracking at a rate of knots now that he has had a new arsehole ripped for him. Saw his interview and what a lying dog he is, trying to portray himself as a victim and a champion of the Aussie worker and consumer. Bastard has been ripping us off for years and wanted a Govt licence to continue to do so.

I will not shop in a Harvey Norman store ever. And now this prick highlights to everyone else why. You want to teach this greedy prick a lesson, then its simple, dont shop there, no matter what, and tell all your friends too. Hit him where it hurts, which is exactly what he is trying to do to the rest of Australia. This dog has always been an arrogant greedy pig, since the days of Norman Ross.

The reality is, hurt one and they will all toe the line.

So, since Gerry has the biggest mouth, and now wants to backpedal, then he is the one to hurt.

Cannot hurt the lot, as its near impossible, but, if everyone boycotted only Harvey Norman, then the rest will see the error of their ways, and things will change. Not for long, but for long enough. If everyone just stopped shopping in Harvey Norman starting tomorrow, they would be dead within the month. too easy. And given that Good Guys, Bing Lee, et al, which say nothing, but still offer discounted prices, are still around, there is no need to go into any of Gerry's shops for any reason. Its not like they are the only places selling these things, but certainly, their prices are higher, and their head is the most arrogant fuck to walk the face of this earth.

The government intervention that Harvey and others want to jack up prices on internet goods is much more like communism.  The result of that will be a protected local industry wich will be crap for comsumers.  A key component of capitalism is competition, putting it simply, competition is good for consumers, not businesses.  That's why they don't like it. Retail shopfront businesses in this country need to realise the game is changing, buying stuff online is the way of the future, it's much more efficient, time saving and cheaper.  The old ways of retailing will never return.  They need to stop complaining and start investing in online sales themselves.  As many have said, you could add the GST to online overseas stuff, it would still make them cheaper than buying locally.  The real problem for retailers is that they've enjoyed a tourist trap industry for too long, something that the internet has changed.

Gerry is not the only one ripping us with high margins. I know for a fact that a certain auto parts supplier (who hung shit on motor cycle riders in an ad campaign) when they put a product on special the lost margin is covered by their supplier. What about WOW advertising discounts on DVD's after Xmas but put the prices up first. I even saw the new price sticker over the old

heres why I buy overseas. K&N air cleaner for my XR1200 is $80 delivered to my door from US in 3 days or I can buy local for $179 and have to wait 12 weeks shit even with $8 GST it would be $81 cheaper than buying from the local thieves
Australian retailers operate on too high a margin thats why aussie food is cheaper overseas .you can buy a holden cheaper in america than here
Welcome to Australia the land of Over Pricing /Gouging
the truth is even with GST Australian retailer are rarely competitive !!!!! including Harvey Norman

I dont see a problem with buying cheap off the internet but I dont think most retailers here are gounging. Im sure they try to be competetive but...they have to pay staff and high aussie rents and all the other government fees and taxes that go with running a business and Oz isnt the cheapest country in the world to do that. Remember we do have a good standard of living and our dollar is strong. Its cheaper to buy overseas because they probably employ mexican staff (in the US) or have some other cheaper business model like low rent, low currency value compared to AUD etc etc.
