This will be on here somewhere can anyone point me to the thread?
Ive got a 200 tyre and rim but really need to go to a 180 to stay with a belt, so considering changing to a chain drive. I will keep searchin as Im sure I have seen a thread on this somewhere. Is it a big job as far as fitting the new front cog on the primary?
Hey Stix I found a thread back in March 2010 but not much info more the pros and cons of both.
Hey Daggs Ive got an 87 FXSTC.
Hey Dazza I have a 2004 swingarm, a spare belt drive that I can get a mate to shave down to suit a 19 mm belt, and a spare belt (I saw an article in Heavy Duty on how to make a jig to trim the belt down to the correct size but am wondering if this will effect the integrity of the belt??) If I am only going to a 200/180 will I need to offset the primary? I didnt think I would have to. As I have all the bits it will probably be easier to sell my 200 tyre and buy a 180 and run with a 19mm belt. The 200 just looks so much wider than the 180 and we all know that bigger is better. Motor is stock so HP is far from being an issue.
With the adjuster issue (belt rubbin) I have measured from the swingarm bolt to the centre of the axle and I have 3mm difference with the left side being closer than the right.
