I went with the Road King Custom because I wanted somethign a little more comfortable and more touring oriented than my Softail.

The final choice came down to the RK Classic or RK Custom, the Street Glide got a look in but I really like the leather bags on the RK's. The custom was eventually chosen because it was low and didnt have whitewalls or driving lights.
But it took right up to the moment I was in the dealer to sign the order form for me to make the decision, i was tossing up between the two.
It would have been nice the have the classic because of the removable screen and cruise control, but in the end, the custom won me on the overall look. Except the handlebars, which I changed.

I like the Sportster because it looks great, it suits the style of riding I do, ie mainly city and short highway trips. It's reasonably lightweight and handles well. It's got heaps of customisation potential and it didn't break the bank which is always good.

i too looked hard at the RK's , still reckon they look the buisness , so instead i went for the deluxe as after changing the nacelle it looks like a RK without the external rear shockies , which i didnt want , wanted the 50's rigid look , white walls , spokes etc.
just didnt think i would get the usage out of the extra comfort , not planning on many long rides but sometimes wish i bought the softail springer classic for the real old school look.

Wanted a Softail ( have a Street Rod which is a blast) for smooth cruising and as everyone either gets a Fat Boy or Heritage decided may as well go from one end of the spectrum - Street Rod (radical for HD) to the other end - Deluxe (Nostalgic), just have to program the brain before everyride as gee it easy to start grinding stuff off the bottom of the Deluxe vs the Rod. Love riding them both though.

Bought my RK Classic because I wanted something that suited the type of riding I do ie trips out of the city.Sometimes with the wife on the back and it had to handle better than my old softail. And seeing that I don't like screens, that left the SG out so the RK was the obvious choice.I wanted the Classic over the custom as I wanted to customise it myself anyway, and I like the driving lights and indicator setup.Just knew it had to be dropped in the rear ala the SG only a bit lower.Changed the handlebars and seat to suit my shape, size and preference for riding, and seeing that they didn't come in Candyapple red from the factory and I wasn't prepared to paint a new bike,it had to be BLACK.

The superglide Custom is kind of retro / old skool.
    That and its handling.

I was tossing up between the Street Bob and Softail. I went with the Softail because I have always liked the look of the 21" front end and I didn't have to add anything to take a pillion.

I went for the Softail Standard because it comes with a 200mm rear tyre and 21" front wheel. Cost was also a consideration, all the other models were well over 30g. But what interested me more was the fact that I can add bits of chrome and other accessories when I have the money.
Always wanted a new Harley and am now as happy as a pig in sh!t

I went for the Softail Standard back in '04 for it's plain looks and value. I had a Heritage previously and stripped it down to a plain Jane. The money I saved I spent it on making it go. Now I have an '08 on order for the 200 rear.

I know the feeling StreetBob. I once went to test ride a custom softail (mid '90s), ended up riding a Fatboy and walked out with a Heritage

I had pretty much no idea at all, I'd looked at a Softail in the previous years and thought a Softie Custom would be perfect - for pillion etc.
ANYWAY, dealer was awesome, I rode about 7 bikes on the day, rode them all bloody hard and for a good 20mins each.

Quikly realised that (My opinion only) that the sportie was way too small, and that the big bikes were actually much quicker and more chuckable then I'd ever imagined.

My dream bike the softie ended up feeling too conservative, and had no shake at the lights, hard decision to go past the fatboy, but settled for (08) Dyna Superglide Custom. It looked and felt a bit more athletic than the fatboy and I found I could lean it quite a bit more (I had some big scraping on the fattie). Got the bigger seats etc for the Missus and some goodies like exhaust etc etc.

    Picking up this weekend!
One things for sure, H.D's have awesome torque and I just can't believe how natural they felt to me, I was fanging em' all straight off the bat and loving it!

I started out with a Fatboy and had it a few years,  My best mate has a 86 softail and sold that and brought a fxd in 1995 had a few rides and really liked his bike.  Sold the fatboy and went overseas and when i came back started to look for  a lowrider basically for the twin brakes tacho and the dyna handling  sold the lowrider about 2 years ago as we brought a house and then started to look for a new bike last year.  Always liked the look of the wideglide and found one for the right money with low klms and snapped it up!!

A Rebel parked a softail with a wide front end and a 21inch spoked front wheel at a gig I played at about 20 somthin years ago at Wappa rock near Yandina. I didn't know what the model was then but a mate took a picture of it (and the band I was in at the time) which is still on my wall at home, so I always knew when I stopped riding Jappa's that I would get me one of them, so I did.

I changed from the Softail Standard because the wife couldn't ride her bike anymore. We needed a 2 up tourer so it was fairly easy to choose. Like the old school look of the classic.

I went for the Superglide Sport as it had the duel front brakes and fully adjustable suspension that I was after. The greater cornering clearance was a bonus.

Had to change from sports bikes as a blind as a bat  old girl ran a red light and collected me(I'm still fighting Suncorp over the third party insurance after 4 years, the barstards are trying to make me give up), I can't sit in the sports bike crouch for very long before things lock up.

Saw the FXDX at the dealesr as soon as I could walk again, put down a deposit and got one of the last ones brought into the country, never regreted it. I may go to a granny glide later on.
